I couldn't figure out whether or not this ceremony was a change of command or a dedication. I'd like to think it was a dedication. . .

Oh, and I noticed that all the scaffolding from the Neptune restoration has been rolled over under the PBY. Hopefully, it's in preparation for the next project. . .

The gear is retractable. There are no aero limits or performance issues that mandate flying with retracted landing gear.

Some squadrons bolt their birds' landing gear down. Ops normal is up or down.

Haha, no worries. I know what you mean though, the 53 gear seems to be one of those things that are reoccurring.
