^^ If you keep narrowing your criteria, I'm sure you can find a few situations a BB would be better than a DDG...

At the end of the day, you're wading around ass deep in nostalgia to actually believe a Battleship is a better warfighting platform than its modern day equivalent.
Eeeesh .... here we go again: I don't wade; especially in anything considered 'ass deep' -- 'cause if I fall down -- where does that leave my breathing hole?? :)

And I make it a practice to never 'fight wars' riding things called 'platforms' ... :sleep_125

A lot of you guys take this stuff wa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a--a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-y too literally ... I suppose it's 'cause you're still very, very 'young' in life & in your naval career and your young skulls are still very, very full of an inordinate amount of cottage cheese ...

Nostalgia??? How about what works?? There IS no modern day 'equivalent' for the battleship of yesterday -- in the arena of NGS, that is ...

*edit* my original post referenced guns ... not missiles ... that's as in the word: 'guns' ... which should have been obvious via the simple expedient of looking at the picture insert ... you know; 'guns' ... i.e., what's ' generally more desirable' for NGS ... a 5" or a 16" ... ???
:)

***TWWWWEEEEEEEETTTT*** (insert sound of Bo'sun's pipe)

That is all ... :)

There's a reason for that...It's obsolete. ;) Doesn't mean it wasn't cool in it's day though. I would definitely liked to have seen one of those ships fire a salvo - spectacular.
