Let's not forget that this is the Congress with the LOWEST approval rating in the history of our nation.

Democrat Controlled no less. Maybe people will take the hint.
From my point of view, I wish they would. But it is unlikely. Congress has a super low approval, but ask someone about their congressman, and they are generally pleased. Just like the economy, the polls say people think it sucks. (It just may now that congress is trying to fix the Wall St. mess) But if you ask individuals how they are doing, far more say they are doing OK. Ask people about HMOs and they poll like NMOs are Satan's own. But ask people what they think about their HMO, and they are pleased. There is little correlation between the macro and micro. I am sure it has to do with what the media reports. On the macro they parrot what they see and hear. But when their own experiences do not reflect what they media wants them to think, they don't seem to recognize the disconnect. People like their HMOs, their congressmen, and their personal economic situation, but they hate them all, worry about imaginary breadlines and want to throw the bastards out. Go figure.

Ask someone who their Congressman is, and they'll usually look at you with a blank stare.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the moderator, Gwen Ifill, who's releasing an "Age of Obama" book on Inauguration Day. Now, I think the McCain camp seriously dropped the ball in not objecting to this person who will definatly be trying to trip Palin up. I think that this is the big story line here. She also works alongsid Jim Lehrer, (who actually did a very good job IMHO). Here is an example of some Ifill's objective journalism.

Seeing how the moderator is totally in the tank for Obama, if Palin just holds her own it will be a real achievement. Having to go into the debate with a 2-1 disadvantage is not exactly fair.

The press has basically been actively campaigning for Obama for about 9 full months now. The choice of this "moderator" just shows that they have given up on even pretending to be objective.

^ Watching Bill OReilly talk about it right now. She'll still speak, but it's a little fishy that someone's moderating the debate who gets a huge paycheck if Obama wins, and gets zero if he doesn't.

(Nobody's going to buy a book about Obama and the new age of Blacks in politics - which comes out on inauguration day - if McCain wins.)

Both the camps agree on the "moderator" and the format, so I'm not sure what "they" you are referring to.

I'm "afraid" that the election MIGHT be decided tomorrow night ... :( ... and here's why:

The "Palin bounce" served Senator McCain well for a little while, and then he went back into his usual consensus "go along, get along" mode of operation w/ the Democrats when one considers all things domestic.
As a direct result of this perceived weakness and a lack of strong, coherent leadership, he's dropped in the polls over the past week. My opinion ... sue me.

Soooooooooooo ... if she's "good" tomorrow night ... then "they" will be "good" again and regain lost ground in the polls ... but otherwise ???

Consider all the times Senator McCain has reaped the whirlwind and encountered the wrath of the conservative side of the electorate when he's "consulted & cooperated" w/ the present day Dem's on policies ... that "go along, get along" mode of operation doesn't serve him well -- not w/ this bunch in Congress nor with the citizenry at large.

Reagan would NOT be impressed. Ironic, indeed ...

Bottom line for me: McCain NEEDS TO GET TOUGH IF HE WANTS TO WIN.

We're in tough times and our leaders need to have that quality -- toughness -- in and about them in great abundance.

"Both camps" did not know until today (?) that Gwen Ifill stands to profit from a forthcoming book she's doing on successful black politicos ... including one Senator Obama. :)

Apparently she "omitted" to mention this little detail when being vetted as "moderator" for the upcoming VP debate ... :)

The beat goes on ...

Hell, our Commander in Chief's approval is almost 3x's higher than Congress. As far as the average American knowing this or managing to "take the hint" ... I'm not too confident.

Wow, can you say "conflict of interest"?!?! She stands to make some extra dough from a Obama election.

If the VPILF thing, (just a heartbeat from PILF), dosn't work out, than maybe she can audition for Jethro Tull!
