Is there any data on whether or not he did get to fly at the boat? He “claims” all the flying scenes are real and we see him on the catapult in the trailer.

The flying scenes are real, but TC is in the backseat. They’re also doing lots of CGI to make it look like he is in the front seat, which is why the real LT pilots are wearing O6 rank in some of the shots. From what I’ve heard, most of the shipboard scenes on TR were shot pier side at NASNI.

The whole asshole on TR thing has been debunked and shown to have originated from one grumpy sailor’s social media post. Close friends onboard at the time said there were rules, largely imposed by the navy, and the restrictions in place were reasonable considering the time, money, and resources being put out.

I’m no TC apologist, but the truth (and Dianetics) will set you free...

Anyone else find it odd RADM Ed Harris’ character (b.1950) is telling CAPT Tom Cruise’s character (b.1962) that he “should be a RADM by now”?

Also, not to ruin the fun of fiction, but the Navy’s current four-stars were all born c.1959-1962.

Since Goose’s son seems to be part of the movie, it will be interesting to see what his story is supposed to be. Wasn’t he a toddler in the first movie? So he should be about 35.

Good call. Goose Jr (GuJu) is probably a dirty hinge DH right now, crushing on FITREPs and trying to keep people from going to the airlines.
