Thought about. Even though I have Master's in Cybersecurity and a Security plus all my experience has been on UNIX and LINUX Systems as System Admin and Middleware Support. Have never actually worked in Cyber although I do have a database security tool that I manage.

Does the database security tool you manage provide protection and data monitoring? If so, that falls under cybersecurity, specifically the defensive (blue) team. While it's valuable to have experience in that area, the primary focus should be on effectively managing and leading a well-run department or unit. It never hurts to try—let them determine whether you're qualified rather than assuming you’re not.
I was in a similar spot (I've done everything from AIX to, well, z/OS) and I tried making this argument to be selected as an 1815. It wasn't successful, but I got picked up for 1835 instead and have been happy with it.

You touched on something that wasn't discussed before... your age/TIS. Assuming you have 20+ years of military service, that can be a red flag for some communities since the ROI is much lower than someone much "junior". You can essentially retire as a commissioned officer as early as 8 years of commissioned service.

Having personally sat in on boards, the applicant needs to have incredibly desirable skillsets for the community to take that risk to community health.
Thank you for providing this info. For sure I know my age and time in service are defintely not helping me which is why I have a very well drawn out Motiviational Statement that outlines my 5 year plan and desire to serve until 60. Not going to let that hinder me as my buddy was in ODS with someone who was 59. If I get selected I can dedicate 12 years to the officer community.

Take a look at the program authorization, particularly waivers:

In cases where the applicant does not meet all of the qualifications, but otherwise has an exceptional record or proven skillset required by the Navy, waivers may be authorized in limited numbers.

What exceptional record and/or skillsets do you have that make you deserve consideration for board selection? Not an answer for you to answer to me, but for you to answer to the board.

Sounds good. Appreciate the additional feedback.

Be aware just seeing someone in ODS at age 59 without knowing their background and specialty doesn't give the full picture. There are many near impossible specialty designators they will go way up in age such as scientists, different medical specialties, and even Chaplains, probably others too.

For those of you who don't get the news they want: take it on the chin, then ask your recruiter for feedback and see how you can improve your package for the next board. It sucks, but a lot of people have been where you are.

Is the list published somewhere? They dont post it on NAVADMINS like all other promotions? I was also on this cycle for 1835
No, you need to get the results from your recruiter. Occasionally people will leak it online, but that is no bueno.
