Final goal? President. But that's going to have to come after making Admiral, or becoming an astronaut. We'll see how far I get.

Great topic! If I get selected for SNA I think I will make the Navy a life long career. I'll be off to OCS just before my 26th birthday so 20 years later I will be 46/47ish. Maybe retire than try out the airline industry again.

A real life Bruce Wayne.

with a lazer gun.

PEW PEW!

But in reality I'd like to go as far as the Navy can take me then after that go as far as the next thing will take me.

My idea is to keep moving forward.

I'll decide for sure after my first deployment, but I'm leaning toward career. Working in corporate culture sucks balls. It is the pinnacle culture of conformity (yes, ironically, more so than the military) and mediocrity.

I just need a girl who likes to move around and take care of the kids alone (haha ... if she exists).

Hell I gotta MAN that does that for me. With our 3 kids.

And I'm 34. Age don't mean anything unless you want it to.

Stayin in til they kick me out is the plan.

I will say this: plans can change fast.

There are days when all I can think about is when that eight years is going to be up (Feb 16, 2015). Then there are days when I love being in the Navy. Do the good days out weigh the bad? Absolutley. Does that mean I'll stay 20 or more? No idea.

I find is sort of funny that there are people who haven't even started OCS, much less commissioned or gone through flight school, who know they want to do 20 years.

Right now Uncle owns me until ~ January 2014. That's pushing 14 years total active service for me. Right on the bubble for "Must LEAVE NOW!" and "Stupid to not stay".

As long as I don't wake up every morning and go. FVCK!! Why do I have to go to this rathole, I should be OK. Mornings with 0400 briefs it is acceptable to say that.

That being said, if they kick me out of the Bus Driver Union, I do have plan B, C, D and E.

That was a failure to a have an acceptable exit strategy from marriage. The Manatee went nuclear on me, and I got caught without a passport and 1 way ticket to a non-extraditing country.

But just think of how many future assholes you saved from the "phallus of justice" of the family courts?

i am 27 and applying for sna, nfo. i will not let a little thing like my age be a barrier(prior enlisted up to 29 yrs old). i think that a goal especially like mine, to be a pilot and be the best i can be at flying fighter jets is not an unrealistic goal. i can do it and made sure i could physically but also mentally. as long as the navy pulls there head out of their a$% and see's that i am qualified via my package i will not stop till i reach that goal.

needs of the navy have a tendency to get thrown out there alot, and people say to pull back a little and take what you can get. i look at it like tiger woods, everytime i will go up for a board or make the grades in my class good enough to get my choice at what i will get to fly, i play to be a champion.(OF COURSE ALLWAYS THAT POSSIBLITY THAT THE NAVY DOESN'T HAVE ANY POSITIONS AVAILABLE WHE I GO THROUGH SCHOOL THOUGH)

but that is my motivational side, hope that fires you up a little bit, and maybe by the end of this month i will be able to tell you if the navy gave me a chance and you can use that to tell yourself he made it so can i....

sorry for so much writing i am driven, excited, and determined. good luck!
