What NRC considers competitive

nope, CWE has specific colleges they will pick from, and they have in the past not filled all their spots because they didn't find ones they wanted to select.
My university is on the NSA National Centers of Academic Excellence list if that's the one you're referring to. Is there another more selective list? My academic core GPA is ~3.1 btw, 2.99 is cumulative. Thank you.

That might be the list, not 100% sure though, your GPA is still low, I was consistently seeing guys with 3.6 and 3.7 GPA's turned away by the CWE community, they look at cumulative GPA not the core. Given your GPA SNA and SNFO is your best bet.

I'm curious about your opinion on my package numbers @NavyOffRec and @RUFiO181 . They are listed in my signature. Had EP evaluations most of my career until Blue Angels, but I still received soft breakout MP's with an LPO and CCC billets. NFO is my 1st choice with Intel as 2nd. Very strong LOR's from RDML(1320) and 2 CAPT(1310). Any input and critique would be appreciated.

It's been mentioned many times here the boards don't really look/care at your evals or LORs. Your GPA is fine and your FOFAR is meh.

I doubt they would even notice.
So I find it odd I've had contradicting views on this subject. The local OR says the same thing as you two about LOR's and Blue Angels tour, but a senior officer who has sat the board and is a mentor of mine says it makes a mentionable difference. Maybe the difference between prior service and none? Either way, I appreciate the responses. Thank you.

NRC spends maybe 2-3 mins max with each Pilot/NFO application. Not enough time to really check anything other than GPA/ASTB score.

I have talked to multiple people that have sat the boards including a senior member not a one said they had time to look at anything other than GPA, test scores, and degree. He may have been the one that looked a bit harder, but most don't. If you ask any senior enlisted or any officer prior success as enlisted does not mean you will succeed as an officer.

Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a bind and I would like to get some honest feedback.

I am 31.
Active Duty at 11 years come September.
GPA is 3.73 Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
Cumulative GPA is 3.13

I have three courses I took prior to entering service that I am working with the college to get them properly dropped. As of right now, I may be able to re-take one course and bring up my cumulative GPA if I cannot get this resolved. This is still under the competitive mark from what I've gathered.

Do I have a shot at SWO/IP if I were to score a high OAR? If not, is there anything recommendations you all have as to a path forward?

Thank you for your time!

OAR doesn't make up for low GPA, it really just gets you to the board, I would guess you will do well on the OAR since OAR often tracks with GPA.

IF they have spots for SWO-IP you could have a chance, but they don't always have spots for SWO-IP some years it is low like 5, others it is lower, like 0

Hey long time lurker, I've finally decided to take the full commitment, buckle down and put all of my effort into getting to OCS. I am aiming for INTEL/SWO(but open to options that may better fit with my degree) with the following stats:

Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice - East Carolina University
3.2 overall GPA
OAR - 62
Prior Service - National Guard - 1 deployment to Egypt as part of the MFO
Worked as the Liaison Officer's enlisted assistant (he was an O-4/Major) - We conducted daily meetings between multinational Egyptian and Israeli military leaders
My dad is a retired Commander, so I am able to get 1 or 2 LOR's from high ranking officers who have worked in the Pentagon and that I have met in the past, along with my Liaison Officer's LOR
Secret Clearance

Any chance?

probably 50/50 for SWO given the last board.

Hello all. Considering pursuing DC for Intel.

Currently 28, DoD civilian employee in a non-intel field.

MA in International Affairs with a 3.5 GPA.

Was selected to a government fellowship program for graduate degree graduates with approximately an 8% selection rate.

LORs would be from current and retired O5s/O6s.

Would be interested in hearing some feedback on my chances, or other fields that may be an option. I haven't been able to find much about HR or FAO if those are still options for DC. Also, I have seen conflicting info on when MEPS falls and when you must pass PRT.
