I would suggest consider SWO or aviation if Intel doesn't pan out. The GPA and OAR are on the "average" side and liberal arts applicants are a dime a dozen.

Hey y'all,
I was hoping to get some input on my aviation package; I'm hearing news that the April board could be pretty competitive given the number of slots remaining and just want to temper my expectations for this time around (and possibly consider delaying submitting an application to next cycle).

Male
22
ASTB: 58 8/8/8 (first attempt)
GPA: 3.94
Major: Batchelor of Arts in Philosophy (Graduating May of this year)
LOR: 2 (SWO O-6 and O-6 aviator)

The number of spots at each board is an average of all of available spots allocated for a year, it changes but not much from one FY to another. There is no way to know if one board is better than another because the variable is how many are applying and what their scores are, those are things only NRC has the full picture on.

If you have no non-medical waivers you might qualify for immediate selection.

I am posting here because I am unsure what the correct thread is:

How long is the average wait time for a prescreen/ initial visit to MEPS? My previous recruiter ghosted me and missed the ability to submit a package for the Nov/Dec aviation board, and now I am afraid I will not complete my package in time for the upcoming April board. My current recruiter is telling me 6-8 weeks.

Male
Age: 24
ASTB: 56 7/6/8
GPA: 3.46
Major: Neuroscience w/ minor in Bioengineering

Good afternoon, I recently took my ASTB and scored a 53 6/7/7 I will be submitting my package for the NFO board in April.and I have good letters of recommendation (one being from a current Naval officer). Are my score competitive enough for NFO? Also, I recommend the ASTB app ($20) but it's worth it for the UAV section.

Hi all,

I’m putting a package together for the next SNA/Pilot board in June. I’ve seen people on here talk about their letter of recs, but my recruiter says I don’t need to have any. I was under the impression that LORs help improve the OCS packet. Is it only SNAs that don’t need LORs?

The general consensus on this topic has been that for sna/snfo the board focuses on your astb score and then gpa. It has been said that letters of recommendation and motivational statement aren’t really a factor or looked at. If I were you I would still try and include them at least as a common courtesy. You can never go wrong with adding more to your packet that will make you look more appealing even if it may not get looked at.

Appreciate the response. Thank you. I’ll look into getting some letter of recommendations for my application. Just curious, how many LORs did you end up submitting with?

I had two. One from my college professor who was basically my mentor throughout college. And then one from the person I worked under during an internship. So pretty much people that knew me for over a year that could speak in depth on my work habits and personality.

I would suggest the emphasis of your application be on the ASTB and scoring well on that exam.
