Which watch?

You can never have too many quality watches. Rolex GMT Master, Breitling (4) and Omega (2) are all in the winder on my dresser. Hopefully a Panerai joins them soon.
Panerai? Dude-that's a cult. Soon you'll be dropping hundreds on crazy straps.
(Panerai has a few chronographs and a GMT I dig).

A very few rare watches will appreciate in value. The vast majority, whether a Rolex, Breitling, etc. don't. In fact, the moment you buy it, it's value probably just dropped 30-50% if you were to try and resell it. Never buy a watch thinking you'll make money off it, limited addition or not.

The one caveat I've seen is that there seems to be a strong following for collectors who like to collect high-end watches that have no-shit flown in combat. It doesn't make the prices skyrocket but it adds some decent value to them, at least the few I've personally seen.

what's the critertia to be an
"officialy certified chronometer"?
Assuming you have "connectivity", of course, use your cell phone...it's like "double-secret probation CIA/NSA GPS-atomic time"...I think. Never really matches my microwave clock, however...

Cats & dogs - totally different animals. One is a certification and the other is "what time is it?"

had my 35 year old rolex tuned up four or five years ago. gains about 4 sec a day.

What do you guys think of IWC?

Some are a little pricey... but they're pretty sexy too... The Spitfire and Big Pilot's watch:

I know a few guys who like IWC. I never really wanted one myself. But they are good quality watches.

I think the next watch I want is a Ball. Never knew about them until I walked into the local jewelry shop when we lived in Odenton, MD. Went to get a piece of PSW's jewelry repaired, and found Ball. American owned, Swiss made, the railroad standard since 1891... I think the Flying Scotsman is gorgeous:

The Skylab is also nice:

I also like the Spacemaster Orbital:

Until that day, I'll keep wearing my Breitling Airwolf, and my Omega Speedmaster X33. Of course, I was in a motorcycle accident months ago, and save a little road rash - my Omega also took the brunt of the damage... Gotta send it off for repair, and can only assume it'll be 'spensive...

I could see these 2 on my wrist, not so much the yellow gold though. When I can find time I must check out the jewelry stores for these.
