USN Willy Wonka retention plan?

Huh? Stats say 63% in zone select rate. The whole PERS adding Above zone picks to the numerator but not eligibles the denominator, sure, whatever.

That kind of surprised me based on some of the names I saw in there (Fleet MP/non-production types)

Disregard. Didn’t look at the stats. Funny the stats are up before the results are linked...

That selectively paid out ACIP policy really left a good taste in my mouth. I guess 5000 flight hours doesn't deserve full flight pay. First World Problems I guess... thanks for the memories, good and bad, Navy.

The best was having to tell my JOs, "Sorry, you guys don't qualify for the increased ACIP."

Thanks for not retaining the people we need the most. Oh wait, we can just extend them all beyond their PRD...

My entire OCS class is right at the cut off and fills the spots immediately "below zone." Didn't see anyone's names on the list, not even the guys in communities that are hurting. Not that I was expecting to, but PERS-43 made a big deal about all the below zone picks in their NHA brief. Was this YG extraordinarily large?

5 pilots and 2 NFO below zone picks, so small numbers and those folks would probably have very strong records and timing. Think competitive high water shore paper in record for screening last May. How many of your classmates does that describe?

The BZ looks are intended to screen those who have already completed their milestone requirements and HW FITREP.

I thought they were having to specifically brief DH boards about people's records because they got picked up BZ and never got the HW.......in fact they said as much in that brief. No?

That's not the intent of the BZ looks. If that's happening, it's on the margins. The intent of the BZ looks is to screen people who have met all the wickets, but are just waiting for their normal IZ screen group to get their first look. That's how PERS-43 explained it to me.

What's insane was this year, at least in VP, several dudes who got picked up BZ last year didn't make DH.

They played silly math like that in 2016 too. [IZ+AZ] divide by IZ only to arrive at rosy colored glasses selection rate, that being an above average AZ selection year. This mathematically invalid percentage was not lost upon the fleet. I don't know anyone who didn't notice immediately.
