31OCT22 SNA/SNFO BOARD

Hello all,

I am in need of an example for my first flag’s endorsement letter. Can anyone assist? His office wants me to send a copy with my package. It’s the last thing I need so any help would be greatly appreciated. (Cross forum post)

Since I’m relatively new to this message board and I don’t know if this has been discussed previously but we’re all in this together, what’s everyone’s draw to becoming a naval aviator/NFO?

I’ll start: after 5 years of working on fighters I got out to go to school as well as got a civilian aircraft maintenance job. Got so tired of working on them I’ve decided to fly them. And also being a pilot is a lifelong dream of mine but don’t have the money or time to pursue it privately.

Went to an airshow and saw the Blue’s at like 3 years old. Haven’t looked to a different career since.

I think I can speak for most people here but, I watched the first 30 mins of Top Gun and went to a recruiter the next morning.

Nah but all jokes aside, my Dad started taking me to airshows when I was 5 years old and I instantly fell in love with aviation. It was always our thing, talking about planes, going to Air & Space museums, it's all I ever wanted to do. You could say I was obsessed. He tried talking me into joining the Academy and said he could help me get there but I never got serious about this career path until I was two years into my Bachelor's and after my Pops had already passed away. My whole family has served in the Navy... and after seeing my sister at her graduation ceremony, albeit she enlisted, I finally made the decision to contact a recruiter and follow my childhood dream of serving my country while flying bad ass planes that you will never get a chance to fly in any civilian aviation career.
The top gun recruits are gonna be a few boards away ???

"Sure, my ASTB may be a 32 2/1/2 but Dangerzone is my ring tone, text notification, and morning alarm. I am ready to be a pylote."
My take on the whole top gun recruits thing is that the vast majority of them will bail learning the commitment that this requires. Also a lot of them won’t even qualify for any multitude of reasons. I’m sure the calls to recruiter offices increased but I don’t personally think it will affect those of us that are here and really want this as much as one might think. I could be entirely wrong but I’m just envisioning so many people walking into enlisted recruiter officers and getting got.
