“Immediate Select” is not in PA-147. Thank you for the help!

Immediate select also known as program authorization 106 (PA-106) can be found in PA-147. However I’m not too sure about what it means when it says the application can be submitted in the same manner. I’m assuming this means that I-SEL BDCP is possible.

I do understand that BDCP boards are held concurrent with OCS designator boards, however the PA does mention that applications can be submitted in the same manner as I-SEL. My recruiter also told me that I-SEL is an option for BDCP applicants. The information I posted corroborates with what he has told me so far. How do you interpret that “BDCP applications will be submitted in the same manner as PA-106 (I-SEL)”? Maybe it could mean that BDCP applicants use the same form? You have not shown or provided any information that denies my claim that I-SEL is possible.Your assessment is off. It straight up says BDCP boards will be held with regular OCS designator specific boards.

Wow you’re really gonna make me do all the work here 😅. It appears the document I quoted and screenshotted is outdated or has a typo. PA-147 quotes OPNAVINST 1120.13B, however that document was canceled and superseded by Series C. Series C outlines the selection process for officer candidates as well as I-SEL. PA-106 follows series C and directly quotes and outlines I-SEL criteria. PA-147 states that applications will be submitted in the same manner as PA-106, meaning that I will be obligated to, and must comply with those standards. This also means that I will be able to submit an application via I-SEL as stated in PA-106. PA-147 does not state I-SEL criteria because it does not outline or construct officer candidate selection procedures. PA-147 is simply a program that potential officer candidates of specific communities can apply to, to receive pay while attending college. BDCP is not a separate officer candidate selection process. BDCP board members do not select applicants to be officer candidates for communities, they select applicants to be accepted into BDCP, that is why no mention of I-SEL is made in the document. If you think I’m misinterpreting this information please let me know where and why! Here are the documents I used to get this information.Your screenshot, para 5 doesn't mention I-SEL at all. Show me where I-SEL is 100% called out or mentioned. Not "linked" or possibly connected, but specifically mentioned.
