Okay really dumb question but I just accepted and signed my selection for U.S. Navy officer document and ship out for OCS in August. My question is: At what point am I officially a member of the military? I only ask because one of the military benefits I'd be interested in taking advantage of is SCRA + MLA. Would I have to wait until after I get a commission, at what point do I qualify?
Just verified SCRA, is from the first day of active duty to 180 days after leaving active duty. MLA is after 30 days of consecutive active duty.

My Chief just told me I'm due for a dental exam, and on my IMR it says it's due on the day I check in to OTCN.
I tried scheduling an appointment before that date and my dental clinic is completely booked.

Fully Medically Ready, Class 1 Dental.

Will I be screwed for being dinq for a couple days? I'm sure we'll get dental exams, right?

Curious if anyone has had experience, as a fleet applicant, going to physical therapy while trying to get accepted into OCS, if you get selected will you going to PT cause issues leading up until or even after you get to OCS? It’s a minor nuisance pain that I’m trying to figure out so I don’t have to worry about it at OCS.

So you will get the opportunity for dental. When I was a CANDIO, any prior who had up to date records didn’t need to go, but those who didn’t could go. Just talk to your Chief about it, let them know, and also let your candios know you need to go to dental if they say priors don’t need to go.

Thanks for the gouge man!

Is there a gym at OCS for candidates to use on the weekends?
There's a gym that candidates can use around the beginning of JOC phase (week 4+) but you need a battle buddy going to and from the gym no matter the phase you're in. You'll have Sunday off to do whatever you want most of the time so that's when most people hit the gym, but just keep in mind that going to the gym is a class privilege and it can be taken away. Once you're in Candio phase you'll have a lot more free time and opportunities to use the gym.

Interesting. That’s some good insight. Figured we would be stuck with instructors the entire time.

During Indoc phase, if our class team wasn't instructing us or giving briefs, we were with Candio's and didn't see them unless they wanted us to. It was also pretty common to have free time after dinner chow for the rest of the day.

Are you not around your DIs and RDCs after the first 3 weeks that much besides like drill and inspections?
