I’m coming from civi side and got a date of 8/24/25, but no mention of needing to do a PRT prior to leaving. Is this a thing everyone is having to do? I was under the impression that this was on first Friday after beginning training. My recruiter hasn’t been easily accessible, so I haven’t been able to get much information about a whole lot of anything concerning what’s expected of me and what I can expect from the Navy.
I'm an ISEL and received the same date, also coming from the civilian side. I was told to do my PRT (now submitted) in order to receive a FINSEL. I would suggest asking someone else in the office if you can't get ahold of your recruiter right now.

You will also need to take your oath as soon as the final selection letter arrives. It'll be an enlistment one at first since you'll be receiving E-5 pay in OCS.
I have a ship date but no finsel letter. It seems odd that I would get a ship date without actually being final selected, but it also seems odd that I haven’t signed a service agreement or anything binding if they’ve committed to sending me. The whole thing has been really informal.

My recruiter called me in December and said I was selected and would be going in July. Then I got an email from her saying I was leaving in August. I’ve texted her twice over the last 3 weeks with no response, and her vm is full. Im just starting to question whether I’m truly “locked in” at this point or not. The closest thing to an official notification that I’ve gotten is that email from my recruiter. I guess she’ll eventually reach out to me if I need to knock out a PRT 🤷‍♂️
From what others have mentioned in the past, the timeline for the final letter is case by case. I have also read posts that some attended OCS without ever receiving one. What I do know is that the only time you officially become "locked in" to the Navy is upon receiving your commission by graduating from OCS. Currently, you are still able to back out if you decide to not go to OCS or drop on request if you're in the program.

I've been staying in shape and studying Appendix B, just to be ready in case they decide to move our dates up.

thanks for that! Definitely helps ease the mind to know the process you’ve experienced. I’ve been doing the same with studying and training. Just was feeling a bit unsure about whether I was locked in to an OCS class so I can get that commission that would “lock me in” to the Navy.

Yeah so I did a self-conducted PRT along with some other pre-commission docs. One of which was a letter saying I accept which was for attending OCS FY26. No official documents have been received either. So I'm just assuming it won't be till at least August till I go which means I probably won't receive anything till around then either. My recruiter doesn't seem worried whenever I talk to him so jaja that gives me peace of mind.
