Not ideal. The test is done with a Logitech X-52. Thrustmaster set up will be way too stiff compared to the real test.how’s the f-18 thrustmaster setup for the jentzen test

I'm currently in a NROTC program (USMC MECEP) and most midshipmen I know had those scores or similar and picked up SNA. I think you will be good in my opinion.Alright, so I'm in a bit of a different situation than most of y'all. I'm not applying through OCS. I'm currently in the NROTC program, hoping to pick up a SNA contract, backup being NFO. Im a MECHE major, (3.44 GPA). I took the ASTB once, got a 7/6/8. Is there a resource available where I can compare my scores to other MIDN? Looking through this thread it seems like OCS is much more competitive for aviation, and I'm curious as to how I stack up.
Do you remember which way they had you urb the knobs for the EPs? Gonna be retaking in a few weeks and this where i royally jacked up. Also for Jatzen what level were you practicing on? Ive been practicing at about 85% averaging about 215 stick / 180 Throttle. Thank you.Been a lurker here for a hot minute absorbing all the info. Currently a USMC MECEP at a NROTC. Passed the ASTB today (3rd attempt) with 7/6/8. My first two scores were (4/6/3, 5/5/5). Best advice I can give is to purchase the ASTB test prep app ($17, someone in this thread is the creator).
-The math and mech sections are spot on from the test prep. The ANIT section helped but there were some odd questions I encountered on the exam such as multiple questions on VOR. No questions on navy rates, jersey colors, or airspaces (but this differs for other people)
-Like others have mentioned, get the Logitech X-52 and practice at least an hour everyday for 2 weeks. I scored in the 110-130 range usually.
-Use the compass trick on the app, I averaged around 2.5 seconds and missed 1 on that section
-If I recall correctly the emergency situations go in order. that being said, once you finish with the first one, set your dials to be ready for the upcoming one so all you have to do is press the clutch when the situation arises.
-Always happy to answer any questions, other than this thread I was given little to no advice so I thank all of y'all! Good luck.
I believe it is before it. It’s been an over a year since I took it last though.I was curious about the PBM portion of the test, I am sure someone had said something about it in here but is the UAV section separate from the Joystick and Throttle section? Could someone explain this? I am taking the test on Wednesday, thanks!
If I remember correctly, clockwise for both was to 100%. Either way as soon as the test begins turn both knobs a little and watch where the pointer goes. Good practice is to also use your pointer finger to turn the top knob and your thumb to turn the bottom that way your hands can stay on the throttle and joystick. I usually practiced around 80%. My desktop is also on a large monitor.Do you remember which way they had you urb the knobs for the EPs? Gonna be retaking in a few weeks and this where i royally jacked up. I'd be really surprised if you didn't get SNFO with those scores. The only thing holding you back potentially is the available quotas. Background on myself, I graduated college last year with a BS in Mechanical Engineering (GPA: 3.1). Submitting a package for SNA/SNFO/SWO in April. I just took the ASTB yesterday. I scored a 75 9/6/8, but I didn’t exactly study for the exam. Would it be smart to take some of these training programs and try again next month, or am I in a decently competitive standing as is? Thanks.
I would send it. Especially your first package! Worst case study and retest and resubmit. Depends on you goals and life circumstances. Does it matter out of those 3 which designator you get? Or are you just happy to be selected. Things like that determine a better answer to your question. Background on myself, I graduated college last year with a BS in Mechanical Engineering (GPA: 3.1). Career goals for me are to join the EDO or AEDO community during my second contract. So obviously SWO would be a quicker route to that goal, but I really do want to be an aerospace engineer, and I think being a pilot would provide amazing experiences while allowing me to sharpen my skills and expand my aerospace knowledge. The longer contract does concern me, but I think I’ll manage. I think it’d be easier to sign that contract as an aviator than a flight officer though, so that’s where I’m thinking I might want to retest and bump up my pilot score on the ASTB.I would send it. Congrats on your future selection.A little bit about myself, I graduate this spring with a BS in Exercise Science with a 3.85 GPA. I am submitting a package for SNFO, and am hoping to send it in the next month or two. I just took the ASTB and scored a 56 7/8/8 on my first attempt, is this score competitive enough or should I retake the test in a month? Thank you.
