1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

I just took the ASTB for the second time and got a 55 7/8/7. Are these scores competitive right now or pretty average?
These are solid scores. I’m sitting on 7/8/7 right now too. Last board you weren’t taken unless you had 9s. The board prior to that one, you would’ve had a very solid chance. Nobody knows when things will be back to “normal” but the October board proved that they do in fact know about the backup and over selection issue they created.

How many boards a year are there usually? My OR talked about one in April I'll probably miss out on but then he mentioned a July one as well.

Reading back in the high 400s, people are mentioning a 12-direction UAV potion, can anyone confirm who has taken the ASTB recently what version they are seeing?

From what I remember it was just like the ASTB App UAV portion except that the voice in ur headphone tell you which direction

Did you find it easier with the hearing which direction the building is instead of looking at it like on the app?
Tbh it caught me off guard since I wasnt as prepared as I should have been. Before hand I Never practicd with the paper compass trick. On the test I decided to use the compass and it threw me off my game.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I never use the compass trick when I practice and I can get around 1.5 sec average reaction time but I have a system where I look at the direction it ask before I look at the UAV so I don't know how Ill do on the test.

Hey y’all new here. I’m prior service. Also I’m not very educated on the test materials. Looking for a straight and to the point test plan from the bottom up. As far as I can tell the ASTB is 7 subtext comprising the OAR and the ASTB which is based around your responses. So outside of the first two, the ASTB doesn’t have a set amount of questions. How do you prepare for this?

Also I have a non permanent ba rating of 40%. Will that be a problem? Could someone link me a test prep plan that has been of benefit to many?

There’s barons text book which is OK, better than nothing type of situation and Kyle’s study guide. You can search for both of those on here. Everyone has a different study plan. The test is adaptive and is graded on a bell curve. The better you do, the harder the questions get. It’s really up to you todo the research and figure out what you are lacking in and need to study. So like most on here have already done, I’m punting to you to do your own looking/research

The first thing you need to do and I mean the VERY first thing is go talk to an OR, your 40% rating is more than likely a show stopper. I have never seen anyone with a VA rating of 30% or higher get back in.

The TBAS practice software has a UAV portion that uses a voice that tells you which direction to find. I think that resembles the ASTB uav section a bit more closely.

I just bought a used x52 hotas from some guy and it seems like it's in pretty good condition. To those of you who have the X52, does the throttle take some force to push it forward and back? I'm used to using my PlayStation's thrustmaster and the throttle is pretty loose and doesn't take much effort to push. Does this sound normal for the X52?
The throttle takes a little bit more force than the thrustmaster. However there is a knob on the side that you can adjust, I keep mine all the way loosened to make it easier to manipulate.

Hey I’m just putting this out there so if there’s anyone struggling to study. We have a study group available for FREE
part of this is to be motivated to studying so it’s a bit confounded.
I believe there’s power with studying with other people because they wouldn’t be no med students without study buddies.
Well some may disagree BUT study groups are great to me.
For now there’s 4 active study members so if there‘s anyone interested here’s my email: AGARDS@my.erau.edu (EMAIL ME) I’ll give you the lay out plan.
In Conclusion I’m a firm believer in teaching others what you know.
