Do the probability questions on the actual exam consist of "at least" and "exactly" type of problems? For example, "A coin is flipped ten times. What is the probability of the coin landing heads up exactly six times?" I am struggling with these type of probability questions more than any other concept.

add a card probability to the end of the question and do the combined probability of both… trust me they will be more complex than what you see on YouTube so get the foundation down

Damn? I have spent about 5 hours trying to learn probability but there just seems to be a wall I can't overcome. I'll get it eventually... hopefully lol

Hey everyone!
Just retook my ASTB yesterday for the second time and received a 51 6/6/6. The first time I took it was last year around this time of year, I got a 41 3/4/4, so definitely an improvement.

(I'm going for Marine air slot)

First I would like to thank everyone who replied to my posts and those who are just active on here. It's a brilliant thing how many of us want each other to succeed in our dreams, even though we're all competing for limited spots.

About the test:

You must be confident the entire time, and believe that you will do well. Many times during studying, SIM, or UAV you will get discouraged because you may not be grasping the concept, don't be. This goes hand-in-hand when going into the test. The day before, study some formulas, do a couple rounds of Jantzen, and maybe a couple rounds of UAV. Like the man Anthony2000 says, don't exhaust yourself, keep a fresh brain at all times. When you wake up the morning of your test, when your feet hit the floor, you know you're going to win, no second guessing yourself. Walk into the kitchen pour a strong cup of coffee, get in the car, plug in your favorite songs, and shake n' bake!

During the test, same thing. If you miss a problem or something, don't worry about it, get the next one.

For the test gouge and processes, refer to Anthony2000's post a page or two prior to this one, he helped me out a ton (I studied for 3 hrs a day for a 1.5 months).

Lastly, during your break in between OAR and ASTB, rep out some nickels and dimes (pull ups & push-ups).

Question.

Former Army aviator trying to go navy SNA.
I got 57 6/6/6 with little study but I have hundreds of flight hours both rotary and fixed wing. I also have a degree in aeronautics with a 3.4. Would I be able to get picked up with those scores because I have a lot of flight hours or do they only care about the ASTB scores. My friend in the navy flight pipeline is telling me that I can but I wanted to get other peoples insight. also should I retest for higher if that’s not going to be good enough? Thanks

You will need to go through the IST process you cannot go through the OCS process per the program authorization section 6d. Contact the Aviation Officer Community Manager.

I’m not commissioned I am a warrant officer. Is it still the same for them as well? I was told I will still have to go through OCS since I’m a warrant. Thanks

When this came up in the past the answer was they had to go through the IST process, I would call the AOCM, better to do that than spend all this time going down a path only to be told to take another path.
