I think(kinda forgot) it may just be for the math. For mechanics there aren't a lot of calculations it was 90% conceptual in my exam. I only had one or two questions that required calculating and even then it was quick calculations.

I did every emergency scenario correctly, however my response times to the audio cues were long and I often got them incorrectly.
You might want to look into the tips I dug up when I was practicing:

Another pro tip: write down the emergency procedures so you don't have to remember them

Hello all,

I finished my second attempt of the ASTB and to my disappointment, I scored exactly the same as I did the first time I took it:

My scores are: 60, 7/5/6

When preparing for my second attempt I purchased the same Logitech Joystick and Throttle used during the examination and practiced using a modified version of Jantzen and Mike's ASTB trainer, which included the emergency scenarios. I did every emergency scenario correctly, however my response times to the audio cues were long and I often got them incorrectly. The link to the simulator is below:

I also used the paper compass on a pencil trick for the UAV portion of the examination, only missed 1, with an average response time of about 2.5 seconds.

I'm planning to schedule my final ASTB attempt for mid march and was hoping for any further advice or recommendations.

Thank you.
My advice is to aim for 2 seconds or faster on the UAV portion. Also, I bet your incorrect answers on the audio portion significantly impacted your score.

During my first attempt, the UAV and the audio portions were my weakest points. I did all I could to improve those scores and my next ASTB score improved drastically.

Does it tell you your average time on the UAV section? From what I remember it only showed me how many I got correct I don't recall seeing the average time on it.

I think when you choose an answer, it quickly pops up saying what your average time was. I don’t think it tells you an overall average time at the end.

Any last minute tips/things to study and/or watch out for? I'm scheduled to retake the exam on the 22nd. I believe I've studied everything that I could/could find. Currently just refreshing on some flashcards that I found shared on these forums. And will probably see if I could find any other material regarding more rigorous math/mechanical comprehension problems this upcoming week.

But I can't help but feel that the prep material for the Math section that I found is just not quite as rigorous to that of what I saw on my first attempt nor feel that there is enough Mechanical Comprehension material out there. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks y'all

Hi everyone, so I’m kinda in a desperate situation right now. I’m slated to take the ASTB tomorrow morning at 9, but my recruiter never told me where i was going to take it. I called multiple times in this last week to get the info, but nada. I also managed to get sick and i haven’t broken the fever yet. I won’t get anything counted against me if i just don’t show up on the testing day, right?

The throttle moves faster on the actual ASTB than in the Jantzen simulator, right? On the sim the throttle target sometimes moves faster than the max. speed of the throttle tracker.

You should definitely at least let your recruiter know if you can't make it. Not showing up without letting someone know is a bad look.

Hello everyone, not a very tech savvy guy here but I'm trying to set up my T. Flight Hotas X so I can practice using the Jantzen trainer. I've set it up on my computer and it says everything is in an "ok" status but it's not allowing me to use my throttle and stick. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? Thank you in advanced!

Did you download and install AntiMicroX?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but based on my memory from my recent attempt the throttle and target move slower on the actual ASTB than on the Janzen MAX setting. I think it starts off slow then gradually gets faster and I think it gets as fast as two levels below the MAX on Janzen. I found it easier on the actual ASTB than on the Janzen sim MAX setting. Also the dichotic is much easier/better on the actual ASTB.

That’s how I remember it too
