I'm in the same boat as you (47 4/5/5). I took it back in December and will retake it in 2 weeks. This time I am taking a lot of practice exams to improve my OAR score. For the PBM and the rest, I'll keep using the ASTB app. We'll see how it goes...

This is what I saw the last time:

MST: Probabilities (dice, cards, dependent events), square roots, trinomials, dividing polynomials, percentage questions like what is 40% of something, factorials, basic algebraic questions

RCT: Not much to say, it's just boring. I will try to understand what I read next time, I kept zoning out...

MCT: Pendulums, pulley systems (MA), static friction and coefficient, Bernoulli's law, aquatic/atmospheric pressure on objects, springs, projectile motion, the center of mass for spinning objects, pistons, etc...

ANIT: I saw a few aviation-related questions, and some about the Navy and aviation history. I am still trying to figure out how to study for this section, I am using the app.

I am still figuring out what I can do to improve my scores, I am using Kyle's drive more this time.
Do you have the 415 cram flashcards? A lot of what I saw on the test I remember seeing in those flashcards. https://www.cram.com/flashcards/mem...l-information-test-anit-comprehensive-4718163

Are you navy or marine
The board doesn't care about flight experience or degree type, it is the ASTB that will get you that SNA spot, your 7 is kind of a toss up, but good enough to give it a shot. I would keep studying and if you don't get selected retest and hopefully you will then meet the immediate selection criteria.
That’s kind of what my thoughts were about that. I’m going the Navy route and know there will be more applicants I have to compete with. My recruiter kept bringing up that the board is looking at the “whole person,” which I don’t disagree with, but they do want to see people who are competitive in their scores. After my 31 days are over I plan on retaking, will share my results and experience on the second attempt.

In regards for aviation the don't, they also don't care about LORs, your motivational statement or any leadership roles you have held. If you were going for supply or Intel that would be a different story.

You should try with the 7, that is what I always recommended to my applicants.

Hello, I am new to this website and have found so much helpful knowledge on these pages.
Question about MST: I have seen both answers on this forum and on different websites-
Do you receive formulas for any of the geometry questions?

I am in my final week of studying, and trying to focus on only what I need to in these final days... Thanks for any input!

I believe I received some formulas for area and volume. I didn’t really need to use them, but geometry questions can definitely pop up.

Warriors,

FYI, with the newest update to the iOS ASTB Prep application, you can now use Bluetooth Game Controllers to practice for the Stick and Throttle Sub Test. Yes, I know Jatzen's sim exists, and you guys love using that. However, for my deployed enlisted guys who can't access a HOTAS joystick easily or guys who want to be able to practice for the SIM more flexibly, I think this will help you guys out significantly. I tested the application using XBOX and PS5 controllers. I have more features in the works regarding controller integration in the application. As always, if you guys have any issues or feedback, please get in touch with me here.

No worries. I have a lot of exciting things in progress, but I prefer to wait until they are a reality before discussing them. I don't want to make promises that I can't keep. I appreciate all of you who continue to support me, and I am committed to improving the product every day to help you all achieve your professional goals.

Quick question. Is there any way to practice DLT with vertical + 2D tracking with either Jantzenx or the Jomo webapp (or any webapp for that matter)? From my understanding neither have the correct DLT configuration which will probably throw me off in the real test

The ANIT might ask questions about military aircraft, both historical and modern. (I got asked about that on my test.) I took some extensive notes on the most common military aircraft (from Barron’s book). If anyone wants me to type them up, feel free to ask.

Have you ever considered creating a desktop application version of the ASTB prep app? Something that could compete with the TBAS prep software and be compatible with a HOTAS?

I think that would be a pretty useful piece of software.

What is DLT? I might be able to edit the Jomo version of the sim to include it

Took the ASTB yesterday and thought I would share my thoughts. I scored 8/9/8 and I studied everyday for about 2.5 weeks. I would study twice a day, math and mechanical comprehension in the morning, and then PBM/ANIT at night. I used barrons and the ASTB Prep App.

MST
This section was pretty hard. Felt like most of what I studied for was not in this section. I had a few questions I had no idea how to do but I could find the answer by process of elimination. I'd recommend just having a solid foundation of a wide variety of topics and doing a lot of practice tests.

RST
Not the best reader and this section sucked. Probably did the worst on this section. Just be prepared to read a lot of dull information. There are usually two answers that are correct, just pick the one that is more correct.

MCT
I had a good mix of conceptual and mathematical problems. Barrons is pretty solid. I would also recommend watching a lot of physics youtube videos. A few hours after I took the test I saw a video of myth busters that went over a question I had on the test (got the answer wrong).

ANIT
Having PPL definitely helped for this section. There were a few questions that were very simple for anyone with even remote exposure to aviation. However, a majority of the test questions were pulled from the FAA pilot's handbook of aeronautical knowledge. Really no way around this. I also had a good bit of navy/nautical terms.

PBM
The ASTB prep app and Jantez sim will help you a ton. Do these every day for 45 min and you'll be alright. Try to get 100s on hard mode on the sim and 42/42 on the UAV under 2 sec reaction and you are good to go. Terrain Identification was also pretty tricky but I had a guy on this thread explain the pencil method to me and it helped tremendously.

It is a pretty hard test but it's not impossible. Study hard, read the thread, and relax and you'll be alright.
