Submitting my I-Sel package starting tomorrow as today is my last day of active duty. Anyone here that has gone through that process recently and can expand on the process itself/timing? My rec said he’s submitting my medical portion tomorrow and the rest of my package after hearing back about that but from previous posts I’ve heard it’s usually 2-3 weeks from submission to recieving a class date. Wondering if that 2-3 weeks was inclusive of the time waiting for medical to come back. Anything helps and thank you! @exNavyOffRec (I know you have had a lot of good info in the past and maybe on this too?)
Medical review by N33 can take a few days or a few weeks, it depends how complex (or not) your case is and what type of backlog they have. The class date depends on many factors, basically you are at the point where you just can't get enough data to know what you are asking.

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago, I made a forum post about taking my first attempt at the ASTB and scoring a 53 6/6/6. I stated that I was not going to retest, however, after talking to my officer recruiter again and also some current Naval Aviators at my current job I decided that I wanted to retake the test to achieve a more competitive score. After some reflection, I concluded that my weakest section of the test was the HOTAS tracking (especially the emergency procedures). I spent a good amount of time using the Jantzen online simulator, but I only used my mouse and keyboard. I decided this time that I would purchase the X52 stick and throttle and get a lot more hands-on practice with it before my next attempt. Could anybody please reference a recent post or even a video on how I can properly put together both the stick and throttle to make it feel like the real test? Also, another side note question, are the emergency procedures in the same order for every version of the test?

Hey guys, I know I posted my scores last week, however I forgot to include my OAR score which was low and begs the question- how important Is your OAR score when getting selected? I barely passed the OAR with a 41, and scored a 5/8/6 and a LCAC (LPSS) score of 71.

3.4 GPA,
Private Pilots license,
26 years old.

going for SNA only. Should I retest since I got such a low OAR or send it and retest if necessary? A few people I talked to, including my recruiter seem to think I’m competitive but I just wanted to get some more opinions because of the low OAR and kind of low AQR (5) score.

I haven’t been selected yet, but my two cents is that you should retest for 7s across the board to meet I-SEL requirements. That just gives you an extra bit of ease of mind that you are competitive based on previous results and the PA. Plus, a 7 AQR I imagine would boost your OAR score into the 50s as I believe they are scored from the same subtests.

The flip side of this is that the next aviation board is right around the corner. If you have everything else completed, I would just submit and hope for the best.

Hey guys, I know I posted my scores last week,
I mean your 8 PFAR is pretty competitive, and PFAR is king for sna. We did have oars in the 40’s get picked up last board but last board was a big anomaly. If you are confident and think you can do better on a retest and for sure get at least another 8 PFAR while bumping up the aqr to at least a 6 or 7 then I say go for it and retake it but if not then I would say just submit with what you got and see how it plays out. Worst case you don’t get selected and just retest.

Your PFAR is really all they care about, just go for it.

Been lurking around AirWarriors prior to taking the ASTB-E, but I just took my exam and wanted to post about my scores, experience, and some questions that I was given on the test (that I can remember)! A huge thank you to all the folks that posted on this thread sample questions, tips, and encouragement; it was very helpful for me!

Score: OAR 67, 9/9/8 LCAC Psychomotor Standard Score 51 (anyone know what this last score means?)

Used all the material on the Kyle and Gomez Google drives; would highly recommend! Barron's Military Flight aptitude book, Peterson book, SAT math and physics sample questions, AFOQT and ASTB flashcards (since the AFOQT has a lot of similar material). Gleim's Private Pilot book, and loads of Khan academy math exercises.
Used the YouTube channels: Organic Chemistry Tutor, Kieno Thomas, ASVAB Tutoring, Grammar Hero, and Colfax Math.

Also used the awesome Simulator from Jantzenx along with the HOTAS x52 stick and throttle set (bought used) on my Linux Mint OS using AntiMicroX without any issues. This simulation set up was almost identical to the actual test so I felt very comfortable during this section. I got the settings for mapping the keys to the controller from an AirWarriors thread.

For the Terrain Identification, I used a compass rose and tried to find a straight line pointing north on the reference map, then rotated it to match 'North' on the right hand map and whatever direction was facing upwards, would be the answer.

Here's a short video I made on this. There's likely a better way but I am able to get all the answers right with this method!

Link to all the questions I can remember:
Questions I saw on the test
Flashcards (folder on Quizlet if anyone would like to use it)

Hope this can be helpful to some folks out there! Good luck to everyone! :)

Since the next selection board for SNA is in August. What do you think is the latest I can take my test in order to get my medical stuff done and package in by August?

Next board is due Jun 10, convenes in July. If you haven't taken the ASTB yet you need to ASAP as I am assuming you haven’t gone through medical. The whole MEPS process can take months to clear, so the sooner the better. I have missed 2 boards because my first recruiter was slow on that front.

If your application is accepted, you would ship for OCS in August

Out of curiosity, when is the next OCS board after July?
Is there a public schedule for OCS application deadlines somewhere?

Maybe, June, July, and August historically have quite a few NUPOCs and CEC due to them graduating and the USN likes to get those they have been paying to OCS fast. There are always spots for other designators just don't count on it being a quick turnaround during that time.

The new schedule should be coming out in the next few months.
