For the life of me I cannot figure out how to do well on the terrain ID to the point where I’m about to thrown in the towel and just wing it on the exam for my second attempt.

I’ve tried the pencil trick(went back through this thread from when it was first added in) and the compass trick( watched that YouTube video 20 times now) and I’m still getting 8/18 or 9/18 on the app. The most correct I got was 12/18. Does anyone have any other tricks or am I just dumb and doomed?
Maybe this one will help

That's actually the one I looked at over 100 times. It looked simple but whenever I tried doing it I'm either off or way off

Edit: Also, to add when I took the exam the first time I really don't remember if it was easier than the app. It was the last section and I was just glad to be almost done. On the test does it say how many you got right and wrong like the UAV?

Hey man I felt the same way, I couldn’t really find a good trick myself. I just kept practicing and just hopped for the best on my test lol. I definitely missed a few but got all the UAV questions right and did good on the stick and throttle and I scored a 7 9 8. So i guess what I am saying is try to offset the poor terrain performance with good scores on the other stuff.

I really want to understand how the test is scored it seems so random. Do you know what the Lcac Psychomotor score is? I haven’t really seen anyone talk about it but it was another score in my sheet.

I think it’s so if you don’t do good on one section it doesn’t bomb your entire grade. I’m curious if I would have gotten a 9 pfar without the terrain ID.

I think that’s for those hover craft if memory serves correct. I don’t know how to apply to drive those or who does it though.
I think that’s what my recruiter told me

I'll be meeting with a recruiter, this Friday more than likely, to talk a bit more about becoming a Naval Aviator. I did mention that I wasn't interested in being an NFO, at least not as much as I am interested in being an aviator. He said we would talk more about it when I meet in person but he recommends that I add NFO as one of my designators since you're allowed up to 3. I can't remember, so please correct me, but if I did add NFO as another designator, wouldn't that lower my chances of being an aviator?

In my opinion, just apply for what you want. If you only want to be an aviator than only apply for SNA. If you want to be an NFO and you get decent ASTB scores you can qualify for immediate selection and skip the board process and go straight to OCS. Good luck.

It doesn't lower your chances but, you may get selected for NFO. And if you reject NFO the Navy may not pick you up again. Only put NFO if you are 100% ok with being a NFO.
