1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

Thank you for this post. I saw that you had this link for the sim: https://astbsimulatorupdated-jantzen.github.io/ASTB-remade/

Is the first link a newer version of this link?: https://jomo1-1.github.io/ASTB-remade/

Thanks.
I am not entirely sure however I would use the first one to practice for the PBM section. The only issue with it is that it should be left hand odd and right hand even for the dichotic listening portion, so just be aware of that when practicing.

Alright then, I'll keep that in mind. For the listening portion, I just flip my headsets around. I saw someone comment doing that a while back and you can get it to work that way. Just make sure you change your controls on AntiMicro and you should be good.

Exam was actually more stressful than needed, the software repeatedly crashed and an administrator had to come in every time to reset the computer. Curious if others have experienced that problem, I have heard the exam usually takes 2-3 hours; took me a little over 4 hours due to the interruptions. I do not intend to test again, heading for SNA - have yet to go to MEPS.
I had problems during my exam too. I'm hoping that its smoother the second take for me. It was really distracting, and it almost booted me out of the whole exam.

Congrats on the scores!

Same happened for me, I take it again in a couple weeks. Should most definitely be smoother, Apex crashed on November 18th and they’ve been having problems since. By the time we take it again there shouldn’t be any issues

Hey, does anyone have any stats on the upcoming pilot board in January? I am not sure where to look for them and I am going to submit my package for that one. I am graduating in Fall '25 and got a 63 7/7/7 on the ASTB. I am/will be prior enlisted as well if that helps my package. Just curious as to what my chances are at getting in I have talked to some other officers in my reserve command and they told me I should be fine.

From what I understand January board is closed for SNA. I don’t think anyone really knows what’s going on right now. My recruiter is expecting an SNA board in march, but i’ve heard people say June. Until they release the new board schedule I think it’s all hearsay

Interesting. My recruiter told me I would be able to submit a package by sometime this month and the board will be in January. I guess we will see as that approaches.

The SNA and SNFO board has been removed from the board schedule, that happened 3 weeks ago, the next one would be March but that is listed as TBD.

They should still consider ISEL if you meet those requirements, and if you do that could be why he is saying to apply, however ISEL is reviewed as they arrive not dependent on the actual board.

Ok never mind I forgot a key detail in that I am not applying to get in as a pilot anytime soon. I am still in school and am trying to get into the BDCP program for a pilot contract so there not being boards until March doesn't really affect me I believe. I am kind of just wondering if the 63 7/7/7 score is good.

If you are prior enlisted you can definitely get away with having some lower scores, but yours are good so doesn't matter regardless.

My recruiter has been telling me the same thing too, that SNA is closed but the SNFO part is still happening.

Here is the new board schedule that show the aviation board has been removed, this was put out Nov 14th so recruiters should be aware.

They don't care if you are prior enlisted or not, it is about best qualified, they go so fast it is doubtful they even notice if a person is prior enlisted or not. They take only a few minute for each application unless there is a waiver involved.

Does this mean that the Navy has also met its quota for SNFO in this fiscal year? I’m asking because my recruiter told me that the Navy was still looking for SNFOs as opposed to SNA.

It means that due to what they have there is no need for a board, the next one is listed as TBD which to me means they are evaluating. They could still be looking at ISEL but that is up to them to decide as ISEL are picked outside of the normal board process.
