Aspiring SNFO
Does this mean that the Navy has also met its quota for SNFO in this fiscal year? I’m asking because my recruiter told me that the Navy was still looking for SNFOs as opposed to SNA.
My recruiter told me the same thing. It’s completely off the schedule while others say “closed.” It leaves me to believe that maybe they know that it’s still kind of happening, but I-Sel is the best shot right now.
I’m still applying like it’s still on, if it’s not then pushed to January deadline that’s “TBD.”

Closed means they are not accepting any more applicants via the normal process.

Well, I have been thinking about retesting for a while but still hesitant since my recruiter told me to keep my score (6/5/7 and only applying for SNFO). But from what’s going on, I guess it’s time to study harder and shoot for that ISEL. I don’t wanna wait for a few more months just to hear that they may cancel the following board again.

They don't care if you are prior enlisted or not, it is about best qualified, they go so fast it is doubtful they even notice if a person is prior enlisted or not. They take only a few minute for each application unless there is a waiver involved.
If you say so, every high ranking officer, many who have been to OCS themselves have said the opposite. Also, prior enlisted/active duty adds a lot on to “best qualified”. It is most definitely something they care about and notice. It’s what everyone that’s in tells you to fill your OCS package with. Just what I’ve personally been fed and told for the past year.

Decades of data show what I have said, most officers or others that have not been on recruiting duty don't understand how OCS boards work, they are not like other boards. What is unfortunate is those that haven't done OCS recruiting including senior officers have given bad info, including info such as the specific degree doesn't matter if you are enlisted, or GPA no longer matters if you are enlisted. Many assume what they look at for OCS boards is the same that is looked at for NROTC and it isn't, which is where the inaccurate info comes from.

When data was pulled over a near 20 year period and shared to our command it was discovered that overall those who were enlisted AD had a lower selection rate of those that were civilian who applied. Those that were prior enlisted who applied for OCS is such a small number it didn't factor in. I like to think that type of data is what eventually led to ISPP for those on AD.

Aviation boards will review and make decisions on a few hundred applicants in one day, that is only a few minutes per board and that is excluding time for lunch and breaks. SWO will do a quick review as well right now due to the high need, others like CEC, IWC, Supply will take a harder look but they also are a lot stricter on TIS, they need longevity. IWC used to really like prior service and if you didn't have prior service it put you at a disadvantage, that was until it was realized people were retiring once eligible and so now they limit TIS.

Hello All,

I had a question concerning the PBM diagnostics.

As I understand- you are suppose to click the clutch for ODDS and the Trigger for EVENS when queued in the target ear that is selected.

In the Jomo Sim, the diagnostics only wants EVEN from the left ear and ODDS in the right ear.

I'm under the impression that the real test wants us to click for both ODDS and EVENs in the target ear. Can someone please help remedy my confusion. Thank you!

Yeah in the sim I believe it is backwards. Shoutout to @dav246 for the idea. Essentially, just flip your headphones/air buds around. So now you'll get even playing in your left ear and odd in the right. You'll also want to configure your controls to match, otherwise, your inputs will be off, even with your headphones flipped. Of course, even after flipping it, you will still hear even being called in the left and odd in the right, but you get used to that. I've attached my Antimircox settings if you want to use mine, instead of configuring it yourself. Let me know if you need any help.

Edit: It won't let me attach the file itself, so I converted it to a zip file. It safe to download and if you're not sure how to do so, any Youtube video will help.

Okay thank you,

just to confirm the test does want us to identify both ODDS and EVENS in the target ear... Correct?

Yea I wouldn’t put too much stock in the online sim for 100% accuracy practice for the real test. I would just use it as a way to feel comfortable with the concept of these tests if that makes a sense? Instead just really pay attention to the instructions provided on the test, you have plenty of time to read and understand so you don’t mix up which ear does what and which button does what.

How long do recruiters normally take to reach out to you? I called the nearest officer recruiting office, gave them my information and all that, and the person on the phone said that an Officer would reach out to me. That was on October 21st. I called again on October 24th and on November 4th but I was told that they were a bit behind on getting back to those who have reached out or something along those lines. I plan on giving them a call tomorrow hopefully but if I still get the same response, are there any recommendations on what I should do?
I had a similar experience. I went in-person to the nearest enlisted recruiting center and asked for the officer recruiter. He wasn't there but I got his number and contacted him directly - set up a meeting shortly after.

Yeah, I was able to eventully get a hold of him; funny enough on the last phone call before I was going to go in person. Met with already and have already gone to meps; this past Monday. I have the ASTB test scheduled for this upcoming Monday on the 16th
