I'm from Orlando, spent a ton of time in the Daytona area in college since I was in a band out there and have a bunch of friends out there. Ironically even my Orlando based band played more shows out on the Atlantic coast than we did in Orlando for the longest time! I love Daytona and considered moving there for a while in college, but decided to stay closer to family and such. Kind of ironic now that I'm trying to join the Navy and leave Central Florida entirely for the next 10-20 years haha.

It is supposed to be a 1/3 split between them and has been pretty close, I haven't checked in several years so I was quite surprised.

OCS is a surge volume for the other sources and so if too many who wanted to go aviation weren't qualified at USNA and NROTC then OCS picks up the slack.

Gosh I haven’t been back home in years. I joined in 2011 and was stationed in Jax all the way until 2017 but hardly went home. After my mom passed in 2013 I haven’t been back since! It’s changed so much since I was a kid we moved to PO when I was 2 and I left when I joined the Navy! Any time I go back it always looks like a whole new world! My mom worked in Deland at a school for special needs kids until it closed down I love Deland!

Ya things are changing rapidly around here! I spent my teenage and college years in Orlando but moved out to Clermont about 5 years ago (can't afford Orlando anymore sadly). Every time I go into town something has changed! I'd be ok ending up stationed a number of places but if I was stationed in Jacksonville you can bet I'd be visiting home on weekends as much as I could! Especially since all my family is here and I play in a band in the area!

Hey I just spoke with my Recruiter. I dont know how much of this is true but he stated that they're not accepting applications for the April May Board for Pilots because they were overbooked from another class. He also said the April board was canceled and the next board isn't until October. What's up with this? Anyone else know anything about this? He was quick to bring up other options other than pilot but I stood ground and told him thats fine if I had to wait as long as I had pilot.
