1Nov2021 SNA/SNFO Board

I think I’m the oldest coot here, and at the ripe age of 35 with a PFAR of 9, I got a ProRec-N for SNA.

If it helps anyone, I have my PPL, Complex, High Performance and Tailwheel. Plus LORs from an AD Navy O-7, retired O-6, a Navy vet who was my DPE, and a few Fortune 50 executives. No waivers besides age. Perfect vision, health, all that.

If you’re a decade shy of my age, and have none of the above, don’t let that dissuade you. You got this. Seriously. As many have shown today, you can do this. Respect your future self by putting in the time now to study up for the ASTB. Do it now. Don’t let life get in the way.

I wish I started down this path a few years ago, but it looks like it was just too late for me when I realized what my dream was.

But hey, I didn’t get a DNR, so I may toss my hat in the ring again whenever the next board is. And every time again until they give me a DNR!

For those of us that didn’t get the news we wanted today, help the rest of the hopefuls out by updating the sheet with your scarlet letter. More data helps everyone reach their dream as we all wander down the aimless path of putting our package together for the first time.

Bravo Zulu, you fine hooligans. ?
Was your waiver only for your age? That sucks if that's what made up their mind on this board.

Early spreadsheet seems to indicate age as a predictor, we old guys seem to gravitate to NFO.
So far it seems like 4 y's that are 30 or above and 2 n's that are. The age seems to be a pretty wide spread for both y's and n's so I don't think it's been a huge factor unless you're above 32. Of course... I'm 30 so maybe I'm speaking from wishful thinking!

I was selected for SWO but had a few questions. This board seems more active lol. Do you guys know when we can expect to get a finsel letter? My recruiter said i would have to take a mock PRT prior to receiving one.

I want to say I've heard FINSEL comes anywhere 1-3 weeks before you actually leave for OCS? Can anyone else attest to this statement or give the exact timeframe?

Same. I'm worried about age too even though I'm under the max age. Astb is dec 7th so I have to do really well

Rip, I’ll try again in may. Play some CoD on inverted controls and should be golden.
Really sorry Erin! I hope you find success with us on the May board!

Question to those struggling with the inverted controls. I've been an avid gamer my entire life and inverted controls are second nature. In fact honestly non-inverted controls feel super weird. I see a lot of people that seem to struggle with them. Those of you that struggle with the inverted controls, do you play video games and if so do you play a ton or just casually?

I'm on the 6th! I just meet the minimum GPA so I'm going to need to kill it on the ASTB. Message me if you want to review notes or anything!
I didn't see a gpa minimum. Where did you find that info and what's the minimum ? I checked the program authorization.
I will be studying all weekend and practicing the simulator. Definitely down to review notes and share info. Wouldn't mind some gouge after you take the astb too lol

I don't know if there's an actual minimum but I've been told anything below a 2.5 is a no go (unless you're @flatspinturkeyb and massacre the ASTB that is)
