1Nov2021 SNA/SNFO Board

That isn't how officer recruiting works, FY 22 spots started being filled by the boards in May. NRC has an OCS shipping goal (x) and then they have a pro Y goal which is (x+specified amount) and number shipped to OCS. The reason the next board was cancelled is they are very close to meeting FY 22 shipping goal for SNA.

Those that don't get picked this round should definitely apply again for the next board.

So just to clarify for someone that doesn't know how all this works. The FY22 seats are those that they're shipping to OCS in 2022? Those of us applying for the May board, will we be FY22 or FY23 and what exactly does that mean for when we can expect to go to OCS? I have this fear that if I'm selected next year, I won't be shipped to OCS in time to be be commissioned by 32. It would be absolutely devastating to qualify, but be passed over because I'd graduate OCS say... a month or two after my 32nd birthday. I'm currently 30, but with how long this process seems to be, I'm starting to get kind of concerned. Birthday is May 5th for the record.

Provided the holidays are approaching, does anyone know-or think they know-the latest we’ll hear back from NRC?

I assume they will try to push our results out before Thanksgiving, right?

I did some digging for you. Last year the board met 2 Nov, results 8 Dec. (almost 6 weeks) Year before, 28 Oct, results 21 Nov. (just over 3 weeks)

so it’ll happen when it happens, but our small sample says 50/50, but before Christmas haha.

FY 22 means through OCS and commissioned before Oct 1 2022, so a person could be a FY 23 select then go to OCS and commission mid Oct 2022

Thanks! That puts me at ease as it gives me enough wiggle room that they should be able to get me to OCS in time. I’m hoping at least. Man all the not knowing is stressful…. Ok back to studying that is my life currently haha
