Which version of the candidate regulations have you been using to study? I've noticed a lot of variation on certain things like the 6th general order and the 3rd-5th person in the chain of command.
I think primacy is really important and I don't wanna learn the wrong version too well.
The latest version I found I think I will stick with. It's the OCR from the OCS website, it says 'updated'...

All of my gouge (the OCS booklet my OR gave me and all the survival guides) have the 6th general order as "...and Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the watch only". I have not seen Petty Officers in that verbiage anywhere so I would go with what the most recent guides are saying.

For the COC, memorize the positions but don't worry about the people below the XO OTCN, as they are hard to find and will likely be different for your class.

Do you mean 14 and 15 people? 15 is the most current COC, I believe at some point within the past few years they added the CDR, Naval Service Training Command to the COC hence the discrepancy between some guides.

And thanks dude, best of luck with your prep and can't wait to see everyone up in Newport!

3. Class Officer
4. Leading Class Officer
5. Deputy Director OCS
6. Director OCS
7. XO OTCN
8. CO OTCN
9. CDR Naval Service Training Command
10. CDR Naval Education & Training Command
11. Chief of Naval Personel
12. CNO
13. SECNAV
14. SECDEF
15. POTUS

I would trust this COC because the guides have been updated very recently so they represent the most up to date information. Check out these two guides:

There was a chain of command from the ocs website that only had 13 but I found another pdf there that has the same 15 as the other guides.
I'll stick with those, thanks for clearing it up!

I didn't see the current Chain of Command on the OCS Website. Would you mind posting the link?

The funny thing about that list is, technically, the VPOTUS should not be in the chain of command. The SECDEF is a PAS position, meaning that he or she "serves at the pleasure of the President" and is appointed only by the President upon the advice and consent of the Senate. The VPOTUS has no ADCON or OPCON over the SECDEF. The VPOTUS cannot demand the SECDEF's resignation. While VPOTUS does preside over the Senate, and Senate approval is required for all PAS positions, the Senate's role is merely advice and consent to SECDEF appointment and confirmation, not an ongoing command relationship (budgetary and oversight powers notwithstanding). The VPOTUS does not have the authority to wage war or exercise command of the JCS or CCMDs. The VPOTUS is not the "XO" of America.

Checking in from Hawaii. I'm totally down for a meet up the night before wherever, after this long of a flight real food will be amazing.

Also, by counting 12 weeks plus Liberty it looks like we'll be the first class (if nobody rolls) to commission under the winner in November. So the chain of command will change at some point for us during the duration of OCS.
