Yeah, I don't think you'd like him very much. That guy should not be a recruiter, he seems ignorant.
I assume that already being a flyer. Me being NAMI approved, 1500 hours flight time, and already done with SERE did indeed play a role because my ASTB scores were mediocre. I didn’t apply ISPP either I went traditional.AD guys - do your rates or warfare quals (AW/SW/IW) matter when it comes to applying for the aviation boards?
I'm curious because I overheard my OR on the phone say "This guy is an MA and now he wants to be a pilot? Hah. I'm not gonna waste my time with him."
Your optimism is admirable40 minutes left in the day.
What optimism? I'm just stating an objective fact lol. I'm an engineer, not a psych major.Your optimism is admirable
yeah what he said....lol. I had a branch chief and divisional senior chief who strongly dis encourage me from getting my degree...and was lucky enough to have them for two fucking years even tho the billet's typically only one year. Very true about your warfare device as well...and to add to this, a new instruction came out in 2020 which doesn't allow sailor (at least in the aviation field, can't speak for other communities) to get their Air Warfare pin until they make at least Second Class (E5)...which depending on your rate...take your AOs, HMs, ABs.....can be very challenging given the abysmally low advancement quotas. I don't regret my time as enlisted at all, I loved it. But I will be the first one to say that if I had had the resources to go to school before I enlisted and then straight to OCS, I would not think of it twice...case in point, I would have my wings of gold alreadyIn nearly all cases if a person has their degree enlisting just delays the process, if a person doesn't have a degree and doesn't have the means for college or isn't sure what they need to do then enlisting is fine.
I have too many times seen good sailors shot down for OCS because their community would not release them, or a few CO's who required them to have their warfare pin prior to them getting an endorsement.
I have seen fellow Chiefs that have derailed a person's officer goals because why give a good eval to a person that is going to leave.
yes in some cases enlisting can result in positive things, but in general all you do is delay the process.
Yeah, that instruction was Navy wide for the warfare devices. I get it because some people focused on that rather than shop quals, but it screwed others over for sure.yeah what he said....lol. recruiters don't know when a board ends, the selections themselves take no time at all, it is all the admin work that takes time so they can send the document back to the senior member for that person to sign and then "end" the board.Asked my recruiter and he said he’s heard nothing as well, just that the board was completed last Friday.
I knew a few CPO's that would discourage college, said if you want a good eval do your job don't spend your time on "those classes"yeah what he said....lol.
