I spoke to the local Air Force recruiters last November about scheduling an AFOQT around the same time as my ASTB so the studying I was doing would count for both of them. I wanted to have one so that I could look into applying for the ANG if Navy doesn't work out. On one hand you only get two lifetime attempts and I don’t wanna waste one by only having a week to study. On the other hand, I’m not getting any younger and it would probably take another 6+ months to get another test slot so maybe I should just say screw it and go take it.

Third. Give it a shot man. You'd be surprised how many people with lower GPAs and low AFOQT scores get selected. Worst they could say is "no".
