The limit is five so you should be fineNot that I’m aware of
Did mine last July, before MEPS. You have to wait 6 months before you can go to MEPS after lasik. It was my decision because ultimately, I want to fly. I’m 7 months post op now and I love it. Reading 20/15 with no glare or halo issues. For those of you that have gotten lasik done: did you do it before you went to MEPS or after? Was it at your recruiter’s recommendation or your own? Also, do you like the results and is it worth getting done?
Care to elaborate a bit? I've been confused how the LORs work and my recruiter hasn't gotten back to me on how they do. I was given an "employer recommendation" form to send but I feel like that's a pretty weak recommendation when I just part time as a stage hand currently and have retired officers and government officials that are willing to write one for me. I asked my recruiter if it that was the same as the LORs and he wasn't sure. (He just took over as the OR this month so it's understandable he's catching up on things).
My recruiter sent a document for my references to fill out with the actual letter of rec portion at the end with signature, title, date ect.Just curious: how much of this application have you guys done in person? I haven't actually met my officer recruiter yet and have no idea what she looks like which feels kind of weird, and everything was done via phone and email. The only physical stuff I've done is take the ASTB at a local NRD which was administered by a civilian, and gone to MEPS which is... MEPS.
Since your ASTB is yet unknown for the retake just in case you are on the bubble go for the ones you have lined up.So should I really have an employer do it (especially since I just work on call as a stage hand) or should I have the LORs I've lined up do it instead?
Edit: I should note that one of my LORs is from my former employer for whom I oversaw an entire region with 25 staff and 130+ students.

I made the decision to do it for the same reason. I want to fly. At first I was hesitant due to the cost, but my uncle told me, "what's the worst thing that happens, you don't wear glasses anymore? And the best is you become a pilot? Spend the money!" My recruiter wasn't too concerned either way because I had to go take a couple college classes anyways to bump my GPA up a point so I was going to be waiting anyways. As far as the results, vision wise it's incredible. I love not wearing contacts or glasses anymore especially when playing with my kids, playing in bands, working as a stagehand, and living in Florida (constant sun). The only drawback has been the eye dryness but that's gotten much better over time and after 6 months it generally goes away entirely (earlier for most people). Just remember to use your eye drops on a regular basis and you'll feel fine. It's really just the first week that your eyes are super sensitive. I drove an hour back to the clinic by myself the morning after (only about 18 hours later after surgery) so the healing is remarkably fast. I've seen 20/15 at every check up and at the last one the doctor said my eyes are looking more and more stable every time. I only have one check in left then it's off to MEPS!Did mine last July, before MEPS. You have to wait 6 months before you can go to MEPS after lasik. The concern is that FY22 was so over selected that if you look at the numbers, the overflow numbers basically all but fill the assumed goals for FY23. So yes our board is FY23 and is the first FY23 board... but FY23 might be all but filled already.BTW for the guy that pointed out the dash board was for fy2021/2022, you were right. This board is going to be fy 2023, at least according to my recruiter
When I was in virginia getting my contact prescription renewed, I asked the air force officer would she recommend it. She said my eyesight wasn't bad enough for it. she called me "barely blind" lolI just got Lasik today and WOW! I can see things far away ? albeit kinda blurry and underwater-like. Totally worth every penny, fellas.
Definitely in the same boat lol. Worried about this getting through whole selection thing and getting NAMI-whammied for something I didn’t know I had or suddenly getting bad eyes. Trying to get myself hyped for SWO or something in the case that happens hahaI have 20/20 but my paranoid ass is deathly afraid if I'm selected, by the time I got to NAMI it will have regressed... maybe it's an irrational fear idk lol
Yeah you're fine lol. If you can clearly read a license plate in front of you when you're driving, then you don't need itWhen I was in virginia getting my contact prescription renewed, I asked the air force officer would she recommend it.
