I just know that your pilot rating for you USAF application (PCSM) goes up according to how many hours you haveSo they wouldn't entertain someone with about 200 flight hours and a low GPA, assuming a high AFOQT?

One of the AF OR's that I would see would straight up tell people looking to be a pilot it wasn't going to happen, said if they wanted to be a missile guy, engineer, or maybe fly in the back of the plane he would work with you, but he had not seen a person picked up for OTS as a pilot for a few years.Your GPA will help you big time. I was basically told that they're not interested in anyone under 3.5 GPA. They won't even meet with you here in Florida, they just have you sit in a massive Zoom meeting, ask you to fill out a ton of paperwork, and then email you a month later to tell you that they're not interested and you're on your own to find somewhere else to take an AFOQT and then if you score super high they'll talk to you (if they feel like it).
I also saw in a facebook group that they picked up like 14 civilians for pilot at the January board then closed it for the rest of the year.
Ya they basically told us we'd have to be PERFECT to even have a chanceOne of the AF OR's that I would see would straight up tell people looking to be a pilot it wasn't going to happen, said if they wanted to be a missile guy, engineer, or maybe fly in the back of the plane he would work with you, but he had not seen a person picked up for OTS as a pilot for a few years.
He talked about another OR that would start working with people and some he had been working with for over a year and they had yet been given the OK to submit for a board.
Key things to ask them is when is the next board, do they know the quotas, what is the profile of those picked up and if they know how many have submitted.
At least they give some guys hope, the AF OR's up here would only talk to those with tech degrees for any role, any non tech's were sent away no matter how good the GPA.Ya they basically told us we'd have to be PERFECT to even have a chance
I mean... I was essentially sent away and told to come back with minimum 90 for the AFOQT. I will give the guy credit though, he actually called me on my phone and talked to me. Said he normally doesn't do that but saw how persistent I was and saw my situation and wanted to make sure I didn't waste my time. Was brutally honest with me rather than giving me the silent treatment. Tried to talk me into other opportunities (mostly enlisted) which I appreciated, but I told him I was going to exhaust every aviation option first. I don't like they way they do recruiting there, but that particular recruiter was a good guy and wanted to look out for me.At least they give some guys hope, the AF OR's up here would only talk to those with tech degrees for any role, any non tech's were sent away no matter how good the GPA.

Not bad! Sitting at work and learning Marine Corps history for an assignment from my OSO due next week. I'm getting LASIK tomorrow and I'm really excited about that! How's everyone's Wednesday going? I'm sitting at the library with a copy of the FAA Handbook, outlining the important chapters for retention sake.
I'm almost 5 months in post LASIK life and I still go to bed reaching for my glasses to take them off haha. It's a life changer man and really incredible. Just be ready for a few days of discomfort, and the actual procedure, while totally painless, is really intense. Once I'm in the military my wife is planning on eventually getting it done herself. Not bad! Sitting at work and learning Marine Corps history for an assignment from my OSO due next week. Did you do your astb retake?I'm almost 5 months in post LASIK life and I still go to bed reaching for my glasses to take them off haha. It's a life changer man and really incredible. I haven't yet. My sister caught COVID which meant no help with childcare from mom, then my son got sick (negative test thankfully) and now my daughter is sick. So ya it's been a crazy couple weeks. I also didn't feel as ready as I could've been so with all of that put together I've delayed it for a bit, most likely will re-take in the next couple of weeks (hoping to be done with studying by the end of January so I can go back to substitute teaching and such).Did you do your astb retake?
Man, I got that last month. 0/10 do not recommend. Did not have a good time.I haven't yet. My thoughts exactly. It's honestly a balancing act between needing to return to work and wanting to make sure I get the highest score possible. That's unfortunate but best not to rush it until you feel ready.
I hope you're feeling better! We have SOMEHOW managed to not catch it these last 2 years. My parents caught it twice, my sister caught it twice, my other sister and brother caught it once, and my sister in law (who lives with us) caught it. I don't know how we've stayed healthy.Man, I got that last month. 0/10 do not recommend. Did not have a good time.
