From my friend that is currently in the Navy flying black hawks, he said if I got engaged before I left for OCS, there should be enough time to have a ceremony after OCS and before going to Pensacola, that’s kinda where I am at, super excited to get engaged and praying for a slot as SNA or NFO, and my girlfriend is really excited about the beach in Pensacola ?

Ok this is good to know! And my fiance is nervous about the humidity. I am too but I can't really worry about it too much because I asked for it haha. I've never lived in a humid place before so not excited about walking around with swamp ass all the time.

It's hot as hell down here right now. Tampa is steamy. The inside of a Cessna without air conditioning gets toasty when the sun is beating down lol

As someone from the Midwest working in construction, I can assure you everyone else feels the same way. At some point, you just become desensitized to it and you gain +10 weather resistance every time someone mentions how it’s “gonna be a scorcher today.”

oh no....this was back in 2012.it was ADM Greenert, ADM Ferguson and Master Chief West
I feel like the CMC and CNO will probably always be a bit chill since they pretty much can’t go any higher, unless they get a combatant command. Which imo is a more prestigious job than service chief.

CNO could become chairman or vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff...back then the Vice Chairman was a Navy admiral, so ADM Greenert was the second highest ranking officer then

Kind of in a similar situation lmao. My fam wants me to propose to my girl before I go to OCS, but I just want to do it after OCS. No need for the rush.

Just to second this for all the guys and gals out there getting engaged/thinking about it right before training..... definitely no need for a rush AT ALL. Honestly, unless your significant other has medical issues, I certainly wouldn't rush to marry so the "Navy takes care of them". As someone in an aviation community, divorce and cheating is rampant and majority of these stem from people who rushed to marry their college/Pensacola sweetie and then got to the Fleet and realized that they and/or their spouse couldn't handle the scheduling/distance on deployment/etc...

If you think flight school will be the most stressful part, wait until you get called in for weekend flight events, you're studying for your platform and getting chewed out by senior pilots/NFOs in your platform, or they put you on a deployment with little notice because someone else went down.

Personally, if it can wait, wait. Until at least through flight school. It is super rare to see a relationship in the fleet that doesn't end in divorce/cheating because one or both people weren't able to handle it. There are definitely some exceptions and there are some who have healthy, successful, happy relationships, but it is not the norm.

Just my nickel's worth ??‍♀️

Everytime I came back from deployment it was a divorce parade....I was in a P3/P8 squadron, the cheating was out of this world man....
