I'm not sure if any of you have had the pleasure of going through LA MEPS, but what a HUGE difference compared to my 3 terrible trips to Sacramento. Incredibly professional and respectful the entire time. I have to stop myself from getting heated every time one of those visits to Sac comes up lol.

Has anyone else had any good experiences with their MEPS station? It feels too good to be true

Went through Houston MEPS last month. Took longer than expected but most of the staff were very friendly, with one doc going out of his way to help me get a waiver.

MEPS docs have no authority to grant any type of waiver for officer candidates and their input carries no weight, N3M does an independent evaluation, if N3M needs more info they will have the candidate be seen by a specialist for a consult.

If their input doesn't hold any weight, the MEPS doctors certainly think otherwise. In my case, the MEPS doctor referenced their own career as a 20 year orthopedic surgeon in the explanation for a waiver lol. They actually reassured me that a waiver would be given, which I thought was pretty bold.

yeah MEPS docs think very highly of themselves, I have seen many times MEPS docs who refused to give a person a physical until N3M directed it to be done and several times where people who were stamped PQ at MEPS to have to have further info looked at because the MEPS doc didn't review the results properly.

I have very little faith in MEPS docs.

I think my case was unique. My med file was kinda long due to one incident, completely clean otherwise. MEPS spend weeks reading it and taking notes. The MEPS doctor cleared me no waiver and wrote me a cover letter for my med file. I cleared N3M in a couple of days, no waiver. They must have used MEPS notes and the cover letter, so in my case, MEPS did play a critical role.

They have to make an independent evaluation, this was drilled into us as too many recruiters would contact them and say "the MEPS doc said......."

MEPS is specifically looking for items to DQ a person that is why they take so long, N3M is looking to make sure they have the info to bring someone in so they look for key items which is why they are quick.

Lol, we had one guy from May 2020 who was DNR'd with a 68 8/8/8. He had one of the highest overall scores on the Excel sheet. You don't always know what's going on beneath the surface that might effect selection, but I get it, that's a killer score.

Nice scores! ? Unless there are some skeletons in the closest I'd say, "You have a pretty decent shot!".

Yeah haha, I’m certainly not as good of a candidate as my ASTB. Had some struggles in college, so imo I’m far from a surefire select, but I’m hopeful. Good luck to everyone going in this board.

The good news is the board doesn't care much about GPA so don't worry about it, aviation selections are heavily skewed toward ASTB scores since the ASTB is the best predictor for flight school completion.

you never know what waivers a person may have that could affect the board result, most don't talk about the waivers they have.

The at board list is a list of who is going to the board. I applied for another designator with an earlier board date and just want to make sure my package gets to this board is all
