24MAY2021 Pilot/NFO Board

Mine is barely 400.
So I'm not sure if it's different for the active duty application versus the civilian application, but there was an instruction on mine that said to limit my answer to 200-250 words. Did any other AD see the same because I've heard of multiple packages (AD included) writing multi-thousand word statements with the idea of "no white space".
On the other hand, some Aviators and NFOs I've spoken with have said they prefer short and to the point statements on the applications due to the amount that they have to go through on a one day board.

My recruiter also made a note to keep it short because the board is looking at so many.. nobody has time to read the entire visible space available for the statement.

Are you currently AD? I'm overseas right now but I reached out to an officer recruiter when I saw that my Command Career Counselor was unfamiliar with OCS application process. The recruiting office I contacted said that because I was currently Active that they would be more than happy to help me and look over my app for me but they couldn't process anything for me.

I'm separating next month. So, submitted for Aug board. But i had everything done for active duty submission but didn't get to submit.

Congrats on the EAOS, but that's a bummer about not being able to submit the AD app. Its definitely a test of your admin capabilities to get this thing together on your own.

Mine said 250 so that’s what I kept it to.

I don’t know how valid this info is, but I heard there was two sets of quotas, one for AD and one for civilian applicants. Again, not sure of the validity behind that.

I heard something like this on the IWC board back in March but I didn’t see anything that supported it when the results came out. The list seemed to have bunched everyone together, no matter their background.

Way to many rumors. Keep in mind we are applying for an unrestricted line officer designator. Navy needs a lot of pilots and swos.

But here’s another thing to keep in mind. OCS is the least prioritized commissioning source after the Naval Academy and NROTC. Be grateful we aren’t begging for an OTS slot from the Air Force, where they hold flight hours as a legit thing on officer packages.

I keep checking this thread as if the results are going to be posted at 2 am lmao. But definitely some interesting conversations. Now I am 99% sure the results won’t be posted this week so I hope everyone has a good weekend.
