Way to many rumors. Keep in mind we are applying for an unrestricted line officer designator. Navy needs a lot of pilots and swos.

But here’s another thing to keep in mind. OCS is the least prioritized commissioning source after the Naval Academy and NROTC. Be grateful we aren’t begging for an OTS slot from the Air Force, where they hold flight hours as a legit thing on officer packages.
nope, it is equal, even though it can ebb and flow when needed numbers are fairly constant over years for both number of those commissioned via OCS and breakdown of designators, roughly 1/3 of those commissioned are from OCS and roughly 1/3 of SNA/SNFO/SWO come from OCS as well.

One question I have though on this though is apparently this is kinda determined by a NSS. Anyone know what goes into our NSS in flight school?
There are quite a few threads related to NSS under the "Primary" Naval Flight Training forum. Not to sound like a smart ass, but most of them go something like this...

Student: How do I calculate NSS?

AW: Do your best and don't worry about it.

I was told I would never fly as a kid due to my eyesight. Lasik changed that. The only thing I care about is that it has fixed wings ?. It was luck I found out they bumped the cut off age and didn't know active years helped. I happened to have the day off for one of my brothers last times meeting with his recruiter before he left and I got chatting with the Chief. I was working on pilot in the civilian world.

NSS is based off the last 100 people to complete and is essentially a bell curve. Like the previous reply said it’s almost impossible to calculate and is largely out of student’s control outside of just performing in the plane. Just show up do your best and hope the chips fall in your favor.

Generally the Navy will let the highest NSS pick their platform out of what is available for that class, then try to do a quality spread across communities.
