I think you were responding to my post. I received a 52 7/9/8 on my last test. We just aren't sure where to improve my package if it is kicked back. Volunteer hours, civilian flight experience, etc.
If you look at the self reported data from past boards, people who are rejected tend to have both lower scores AND lower GPAs. Or they are budding up against the age limit. These are averages, but a 7/9/8 is solid.

yeah my bad on the misquote. unless you have a terrible GPA you shouldn't need to worry about the academics bit. make sure LORs are solid and check all the boxes for why you are an ideal officer candidate. if you're not already in a leadership capacity for volunteering, maybe look into that. and obviously if you are genuinely interested in picking up civilian flight experience no harm in doing that, it just probably won't be much of a factor based on what others have said on these forums.

Got it! I appreciate the help. Good luck on your package?

Do you know that your 9 on the PFAR represents the top 4% and the 8 FOFAR represents the top 11%? I'd say your scores are fine. Don't worry about retesting, they don't care about the OAR as much. Your improvement is going to come from other sources than the test... At least pursuing a pilot license would show initiative and drive to be an aviator.

And they do care about flight hours, it's inputted into the ASTB before you start, you also select what pilot licenses you have on the drop down menu if applicable. It's just not as heavily weighted in the test as it is in the AFOQT.

Great input. I'll just do some research into getting some hours just in case. Plus, I want to fly so I don't see an issue with doing it if I have the money for it.

I have a 49 5/7/5. I took my last test retake in June. The only real improvements to my package this round are that I was volunteering 20 hours a week at two different organizations. I also got a new position at my job. So I will be able to tell you how much the hold the volunteering hours to heart.

Awesome. I'll look out for your update. Good luck on this board!

My recruiter was telling me it’s kind of the luck of the draw. Because my scores are not competitive. When the person at the board looks at my other accolades. It might be that they hold being a Eagle Scout near and dear to their heart or that I volunteer. It really does come down to luck for me because of my scores.

Finally got my package submitted. Got stuck waiting on a few interviews thanks to COIVD restrictions (setting up interviews with O5+ is like herding cats ? )so ended up cutting it MUCH closer than expected.

Best of luck to everyone!

My score are pretty similar to yours. I'm currently studying for the ASTBE again in case I don't selected and can take my third and final time for a higher score. My skipper used to be on the boards (he said this was almost a decade ago so.... sprinkle some salt and take a shot on how relevant the info still is) and he said due to the volume of applications, sometimes they'll look for "key" words and/or phrases. Sometimes they'll start off fast with automatic Nos (waivers, etc...) and sometimes they accept a bunch in the beginning and then narrow it down once they're close to the quota.

I know Eagle Scout is a solid bullet and I wish you (and everyone on this board) all the luck to get accepted!

I’m just worried for a DNR now because I can’t retake the ASTBE anymore ?

When do I need to put my package in for may board?

Got done going through all the posts I've missed the past few months (man, what a roller coaster)

I don't know if anyone's helped you but as active duty enlisted you will not use an OR. Command career counselors deal with enlisted detailing so see if there's a JO or Admin O who's in charge of Officer Programs. If you need any help with anything, just shoot me a DM. You can ask for an officer recruiter out in town for an extra set of eyes to look over your package, but they cannot submit your package for you.

Have we've been keeping up with those who we're on the google doc but aren't gonna make the board?
