Oh I hadn't heard about that exception. Sounds like a good rule, especially for people like yourself who are just under 3.0, because if you've graduated there's obviously no way to affect your GPA, short of going back to school for grad school or a second major.
I don't know if they included any quantity for that exception in terms of flight hours or if you have the PPL, but if they come back in December and say that you need more time, and if you've got about $6,000 t0 $8,000 to spare, you might want to think about getting your license in the spring and then reapply for the July board. If possible, I would recommend tailwheel over nosewheel, because while I have no tailwheel time, just about everyone I talk to tells me that tailwheel experience helps you build great stick-and-rudder flying skills. If you're anywhere near Jersey, I hear Andover is pretty good for that, and they have some pretty nice planes there too (

All that said, I certainly hope that they let your application go to the December board in the first place so you can avoid all that, but if there's one thing I've learned during this whole process, it's that it's better to be prepared for every contingency, forewarned is forearmed, etc etc.
