Applying to Jan board 2013

I have read quite a bit about SWOness. Heard such thing as how they eat their young and basically it is job that nobody in the Navy wants. I don't agree with it. Frankly, I just want to be a Navy officer. That is first and foremost. Job is a distant second.

Couldn't agree with you more on the PhD. Most folks say a M.S. makes you more marketable than a PhD in today's economic environment. Moot point seeing as how you have a top tier application! Jealous of your PFAR!

That's the right attitude to have if you are going into SWOdom.

The MS/PhD thing depends on the field (mine can sometimes prefer the PhD) but you are pretty much right. Thanks for the compliment on the application, I wish my ASTB was a bit better but I'm hoping my GPA can make up for it.

It was a low blow and unprofessional / un-genuine, especially due to the fact I went into the office to start the process late June.

Sucks man, I'm sorry to hear this. I'm surprised given what a good job my recruiter does, and how helpful NavyOffRec is.

NavyOffRec,

Thank you for all of your help and everything you do on this forum. So I come to find out yesterday that my recruiter never even submitted my package....I give an email to the processor at the office (Who generally has been handling EVERYTHING throughout the whole package) and she says, yeah, your recruiter never submitted your package to me to send off (Which the difference was literally a couple signatures and the remarks section of application) . Long story short, I call him and he says no no I submitted you, all the while receiving a call back an hour later saying yeah, it was never submitted...

It was a low blow and unprofessional / un-genuine, especially due to the fact I went into the office to start the process late June.

So now I will be submitting to the next board (SNA) since the deadline is way past for the 3DEC12 board. Will it be meeting in March? I saw you mention that it could possibly be in Feb. Just some more waiting on my shoulders. Good luck to everyone else who applied!

What recruiting district? Your recruiter seems as interested in you becoming an officer as mine does.

NRD Ohio...I live in Cleveland and go to an office about 30 mins south of downtown...Im sitting in the processors office and she tells me: "I have seven recruiters that work here, six of which are great" Ha, I think you can pick up on that one.... I'm standing in the office and do not even receive an apology or acknowledgement of the fact that he messed up from him...He even asked me why I was there!! So once I contact NRD OH hq in Columbus to file a complaint and request a new recruiter, I get a call from him saying how sorry he was and how he's "beating himself up over it." His initial excuse was it was "overlooked" and "at the bottom of the pile"...When I was the first applicant to this board to walk into their doors (June '12).

My OR had me write that I had a medical waiver on my application in the applicant's comment section - and what the waiver was for. Is that normal? They rang me up and said "add that to page x, sign it, scan it, send it to us" at the last minute.

In over 3 years I was an OR I never saw that done, the board is only supposed to review "professional records" ideally they will see that in their and not consider it, but if it is something unusual it might sway them in a negative way, the board is not supposed to see anything that could be considered confidential under HIPPA (sp??), your OR is either getting bad direction or an ??

What I found out yesterday is via email they said there will be another board that is not on the schedule because they couldn't process all that was rec'd, so have them submit your application ASAP, it could be reviewed in Jan

I will say that does suck though, what rank is your recruiter?

Well that definitely is a positive. I think the earliest it can get out is Tuesday. He is a PO2

That is your problem, anything other than a CPO or Officer gets walked all over, a PO2 is essentially the lowest ranking person at an NRD and doesn't have the experience or authority to push things, I had no issue walking up to anyone and say "get this done", I myself NEVER had a single person miss board due to me or my processors because I could tell them to get it done (in a nice way)

Completely agree and understand. The package is done and has been. Hopefully they meet in January. Thanks NavyOffRec

So this January board will be an overflow for the ones they can't review this December 3 board? Will the folks that dont get reviewed automatically go to the January board?

If they are "at board" for Dec 3rd they will be reviewed, those that weren't sent to board will be in the next group.
