It has been roughly a year for me. All my documents are into the boards. I do not have another year to wait. I will be 27 in the beginning of the year and the boards know that. If they Pro-Rec'd me for SNA why in the world they would make me wait...... Well see, well see. I am ready to get out there.. I am still working out every day pumping 200+ PU and some 100+ SU and a few miles every other day. I am ready!
Hey man...my medical package cleared yesterday. Just waiting for FS. I turn 29 on Dec 21st. I did the math. I would have to report next Sunday in order to meet that deadline. Am I really getting Pro Rec and then not FS due to age? We'll see I guess
Well how I read the requirements for prior AD 29 is the MAX age. If my comprehension is correct that would mean that you cannot be older than 29 YO (ie not be 30)..... I do not see how they Pro-Rec you know you are about to be 29 and then not FS you. That would be idiotic...! Who knows, to be honest I have see worse shit happen in my short life span. I have never gotten a concrete answer on the whole age thing. The non prior AD have to be no older than 27 YO, which could mean if I am 27, I am not older than 27 until I am 28 right..... Or am I a complete moron? I am cutting the age close and was also Pro-Rec. for both SNA and SNFO. I dont get it! This is insane!
I want nothing more than to be a NAVAL AVIATOR.... And I have my uncertainties now with the whole age thing....
Finally seem to have things moving with my MEPS date pending. I basically crashed the car into the store front and started honking and shouting, "WHAT THE FUCK!?" I'll leave it at that.
AV and EFN, I hear you on the age! AV and I are very similar in the way our ages fall and, it seems logical that with a PRO REC they would have already taken that into account. You would figure that if the process could take this long, that they would take it into consideration. Plus, why draw bodies in that ultimately, are not going to make the cut because of age. Fucking stupid if this is how it works.
I know that a few people have been DQ-ed during the initial selection phase because they were too old for the jobs they applied for: Pilot/FO/SWO. Logic (key work here) is to assume that having been screened for at the boards, we would be in the clear with a PRO REC. There is no way I am going to make it in fully in the clear. I could slip by and graduate a month or two after. This has happened but I am a pessimist and wouldn't consider this a regular event.
Wishing I could assist in providing age clarification but I get conflicting info too. The only thing, and I got this from a current FO, is to be a FO, you need to be no older than 27 on the last day prior to your 28th birthday. I think I understood that right...
And yes, there is nothing more I want than to be a carrier pilot in the Navy...
FLY NAVY!
The whole age thing is very unclear to me. It seems there is little information. I have read on the same website where it says out of OCS by 28th bday and on another place ages between 18 and 26. When I read no older than 27YO, to me it means prior to 28YO. The recruiter told me it is out of OCS prior to 27 YO. Who knows...... Well just have to keep fighting.
FLY NAVY!
Congrats! Hey it is still something and you can always make it all the way to Admiral as an NFO.....
JPAS Cleared me (FBI)..... Now awaiting the damn OOM (Medical)... They are pushing it and I should know something by the end of the day...
I need a class in October....!
