I recommend going with a G shock or the like to get you through winging, once you are an o-fich-ial Naval Aviator, go for the Omega (or similar). My criteria: 1) 2 time zones (so you don't have to do math in public to figure zulu to local) 2) sapphire crystal (takes a beating without getting scratched up) and 3) good face illumination (NVG compatible).
BTW, If you are a professional aviator, and buy a watch with a chronograph (for calculating stuff in the cockpit...of course!), and have a good tax guy, you can deduct the purchase price from your taxes. You do have to have a chronograph to do your job after all... :icon_wink
