I was approved for a VFA/VRC transfer, but no orders.

Kinda weird....VFA or VRC?? Hornets, Rhinos or CODs. Tough choices, good luck with that.

what else does the Navy fly anymore? Im guessing Prowlers is a pretty small community.

Guess which one I chose? Never had a seconds regret either. :)

14 squadrons - ain't that small.

I'm not picky. I just want to fly fixed wing that is not P-3s.

I don't fit in the Prowler, otherwise I would have listed that.

I'm kind of in an odd spot where I am. Because of flying civillian, I have more helo time than my CO/XO (granted, not in the 60B) and most DHs that were not VT/HT/FRS instructors.

I get stuck in a lot of things because of my "experience" but becasue it is not 60B time, I cannot use the time to my advantage much. Double edged sword of sorts.

I would like to fly fixed wing, preferably in a communtiy that has a chance of being allowed to do their job. Be it zapping radar, hauling stuff or dropping bombs. LAMPS has its hands tied a lot. We are capable, but the ships CO's use us as a last resort, and will call CAG and get a hornet to drop a bomb, before they let us use a hellifire that we already have AVT lock-on with.

Not down with the P-3/8 becasue I am used to running the ASW show myself, and I want to land on a carrier using a tailhook.

If helos were a new experience for me, I probably would be as stoked as the average helo bubba.

Wow, that many I honestly thought it was less but figured that proportionally that there were very few Prowler pilots when compared to the other communities.
Learning has taken place.

Just wondering, how many aircraft are in each squadron? I know the Corps has five in each squadron, was wondering if the Navy does it the same way.

4, except VAQ-136 in Japan - they have 5.

Does that include expeditionary squadrons?

Yes, they will go away when the EA-18 comes into service. The USAF will use......the F-22 for EA!

Isn't it due to some kind of airflow/vibration issue? That's what the scuttlebutt was going around when they were flight testing the JX pods.

Talked to a ECMO who was at TPS last year and I asked if they had looked at the effect of the canted pylons on the pods, will it stress them? (They ain't that sturdy to begin with...) His response "that is a good question". I repeated the question and he said "that is a good question, I wonder if anyone has looked at that" with a really big smirk on his face. He said that no one had really looked at it in depth and he and the other VAQ types at Test had asked the question but had not gotten an answer. Don't know if has been looked at since.
