The latest Chinese prototype, dubbed a "6th generation fighter" and referred to as the Shenyang J-XD2, has made its first flight. Unsurprisingly, the photos are not of high quality. The aircraft appears to have a lot of wing area. Apparently it has air intakes both below the leading edge of the wing and on the spine, leading to some speculation that it could have three engines.
I am confused as to whether this is a Chengdu or a Shenyang design, but given the attached photo, which shows a "36011" on the nose, I think it's a pretty good bet that the designation is J-36. Lots of other detail is visible in this photo.
