What about POTUS?
If our President were sitting right next to the only two people in an otherwise empty stadium, sure.

However, I’d be willing to bet that he, along with those around him, probably gets tested daily. So does he need realistically need to? Just like Dr. Fauci, said, people making an issue out of it are just being “mischievous”. If that gets him off the hook, I’d argue the same certainly applies to POTUS.

My wife and I have a favorite bar down the way, next to a creek, outside seating, accessible by bike path so we can "drink and bike". The rules are wear a mask inside to order and get your drink, wear a mask when moving around outside, don't move tables, you can take off the mask when seated. It's an awesome place to hang out and drink craft beer or an alcoholic slushy.

Yesterday, while tossing the empties off of our table, I did a quick 360 sweep to check the coast was well clear (early and not crowded), and dashed the 10' to the trashcan and back without a mask. Yes, I broke the rules.

Seeing the Fauci thing, I can imagine some asshole paparazzi with a telephoto lens hiding in the trees staring at me and my wife for an hour getting liquored up, waiting to capture a shot of me with the mask down and out of my seat. Mission accomplished. Luckily, I'm just not that important. ?

I think the most ridiculous thing about this attempted embarrassment of Fauci is that people seem to conveniently ignore the fact the even though he's in a completely empty stadium and sitting with family, he STILL has a mask.

Or maybe people are just angry cause he got to go to a baseball game and they didn't. ??‍♂️

I’m not sure the guy sitting next to him is a family member.

I just think it’s funny that he wore the mask walking up to throw the first pitch even though the nearest person was 60 feet away, e.g. he was social distancing so a mask wouldn’t necessarily be required. So I’m curious if he was subconsciously thinking that he needed to wear it in order to set an example since he knew it would be broadcast live all over the world? And even when he gave the catcher a corona ‘bow afterwards, if he knew he was covid negative and wasn’t a threat, why would he need to wear one at that time other than for optics? I mean after all, wearing the mask is to prevent YOU from spreading it, not to prevent YOU from catching it...right?

BLAB: If he had just taken a test the day before and it was negative, why did he even need to wear a mask at all?

Not sure why you guys keep citing this jackass. In March he downplayed the severity of this saying "we're going to be fine" and "the real situation is not nearly as terrible as they make it out to be." Nearly 150k deaths in America later, he sounds just as much of a shill as the anti-vaxxers.
The raw number is nearly meaningless. 150K for Nevada is devastating. For a country of 330M, not so much. More people than that die of medical mistakes out of a much smaller subset of the country at large. Not saying it ain't nothing. Just that the alarm is overstated.

It's as if, when we're faced with a virus that literally no one has ever seen before, you have to stake out a position and never change it, even if you learn something new about it that contradicts what you thought. Because anyone who learns new things and then changes their mind is just a wishy-washy flip-flopper, you know. Totally not credible.
Something everyone should consider when vilifying policy makers and leaders for early decisions. And that includes this president. Cuts across the board.

We are averaging 7-8 new tested cases in our county per day, ...
Whoa, today’s numbers just came out.

Centre County saw a substantial increase in its COVID-19 case count on Sunday, with 43 additional positives reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

It’s been taking 10-14 days to turn tests around due to stressed capacity of the big test companies, Quest and LabCorp. Hopefully a catch-up of backlog, but could also be that we are reaping what the big party weekend two weeks back has sown.

PA Health said "Statewide there were no delays in reporting or data dumps to contribute to the rise in cases,"

Not what you want to see as Big State U preps for the Fall.

You keep beating your drum of positive cases.. What matters is deaths and even more importantly, the demographics of those deaths.

No, it's not . . . because there's documented evidence of at least some portion of people who survive having screwed-up lung function. Suppose you got this disease, survived, and ended up on an oxygen tank and lost your FAA medical and your livelihood? What then? Would deaths be the only thing that mattered then?

So now we're going to justify lockdowns and keeping the economy suppressed because some percentage of people might suffer from long-term effects? This disease has been around for more than 7 months now. If this was a widespread problem I think there would've been some meaningful studies and reports out by now and not just anecdotal evidence. And yes, I have read the articles about "long haulers" (article below). They represent a very small portion of those who've survived the illness.

As for your other question, @FrankTheTank would go on his company's long-term disability plan, and whatever private loss of license/medical insurance he might have. So yes, on a micro level, it would be an unfortunate situation for him and his family. On a macro level, should we all stop whatever we're doing because this small percentage outcome might happen to him?

On another note...it's happening. These are from late June. Bold is mine.

Now, if the deaths don’t follow the uptick in cases, I think it’s very possible the media is going to pivot to “we don’t know the long-term effects” as their next reason for why we should keep things shut down.
People are already pushing the “we don’t know the long term effects” as though a significant portion of those infected are suffering long term effects

I might get cancer too.. So what, I should put my life on hold? If you're scared then go live in a bubble but telling society that they should because you’re scared is ridiculous! So much for land of the free and home of the brave!

What’s that saying that is popular on this forum? Moving the goalposts... Or was it “whataboutism”? This is insanity. We have about 5000 pilots flying all over the world 24/7 and we have had maybe 40ish get and 1 death from COVID. Btw my buds keep texting pictures from Paris and Germany and they are wide open..
