Dependant? Question about BAH and stuff

The BAH difference would be large. Reporting flight students without dependents is like 500 or something sucky like that. BAH married is 1140 in PCOLA. Medical Insurance is a huge deal.

I am pretty sure that for the school loans it would be far better that you claimed her as a dependent then your parents. If you are married, then you are filing jointly on Ensign salary...with the tax advantages of the military you would be put in the very poor tax bracket...two people living off 28,000 after the tax advantages and other tax breaks.

That would get you a lot more federal aid. Of course I could be wrong...but this sounds right.

This may be a little late to get in on this thread, but I have a similar situation. My fiancee and I have been engaged for about a year, then I went and joined the Navy through BDCP. She and I have had a hard time figuring out when to plan for a wedding, because there isn't really time before I leave for OCS, and were not sure if there is any time during flight school or directly after. So are there any holiday breaks or down time during flight school, or is this something me and her just have to wait till the end to do? I am up for just marrying down at the court house, but she wants what everyone in this thread has been calling a "real wedding". Any more advice on the topic?

-on a side note, I do have several weeks of leave saved up-

I am going to tell the truth to any question I am asked rather than tank MY husband's security clearance by lying over something so meaningless.
You've probably already tanked your husband's career by just being yourself.....so his security clearance is worthless anyway. Unfortunately, a spouse's actions often reflect on the officer.

The situation(s) you described were investigators checking on your neighbors, not your husband so I fail to see how HIS clearance would be jeopardized at all.
