I was at the Fleet and Family Support Center today to pick up one of those Christmas angel tree cards and I picked up a little booklet called "the Quick series guide to military income." It doesn't go into much depth, but it has descriptions off all the different payments, allowences, allotments, etc. It probably wouldn't do much for you guys who have been in for a while, but if you're like me and don't even know what half these acronyms stand for, you should look into it.

deployment sucks
there's also a book called "highlights of military income" (could be the same one, flyingbeagle) published each year. i was just about to quote from it on this thread about dla but i think you guys have covered it :)

I tried to pay my Advance Pay back. I went to PSD, wrote a check, received a receipt. Next LES/paycheck they paid it all back to me! Then they started taking it out of my paycheck again.
I sit here and laugh out loud at this, but yet, I know how true it is.

Advance pay is da bomb, yo. I've never done it, mind you, but I plan to when I leave here. Do they still do it up to 3 mos with a 3 year pay back? With the way house prices are skyrocketing in VaBeach, I'm thinking I'll need all the cash in pocket I can get.
Why is a fleet SWO asking questions like this to guys who have never been to the fleet? I know you know where to find this answer, Road. And if you don't, well, Jesus, PM me then and I'll get the answer for you.

Is it anything like the "Quick Series Guide to Getting Laid"?

I think the most you can get is $10k, even if it is less than 3 mo. Now, I have never seen that in writing, but I applied for 3 mo and only received $10k. I also know of another O who PCS'd from a different base (different PSD, squadron, etc.) and he also only got $10k.

Hey guys. I checked into NASC back in Sept and did all the paperwork and filed my travel claim. Im SNFO so PNS is my PDS. Does it take this long to get reimbursed for my travel claim? Its been almost 4 months so i wasnt sure if this is normal. Any help?

Just a guess here, but even though you are at your PDS in location, you are not at the "Ultimate Activity" on your orders. When you get to primary and TRAWING 6 is dealing with the paperwork, you'll probably see things start to happen a lot faster. Nobody's worried about you or your pay while you are waiting around at NASC/ A-pool.

Nobody will ever worry much about your pay, no matter where you are, because its not their pay.

Again, if you were commissioned, and then sent to API, your orders are Commissioning Orders and not PCS orders. Therefore you are NOT eligible for DLA. However, if you somehow got held up at your commissioning source (Academies or ROTC) due to, say medical reasons, and were "transferred" to the unit permanently so that your next set of orders sent you to API as a PCS, then you'd be eligable. Not that I would know, or anything.

Does your chain of command know. Shit starts happening when an O-4 or so starts asking questions.
