My stance is that the vast majority of 'food insecurity' is a combination of parental neglect and children being picky eaters, and that's not a problem we should be solving through education funding.
You're one "pull themselves up" away from a trifecta...

There are a lot of things public schools try to do that aren't in their lane. We may agree that public schools have, to varying degrees, been turned into WalMarts of social services - some of that argument has merit. But, dude, what the fuck... feeding kids... that's the part that gets you going?
Again, send me a PM, we'll coordinate a visit, you can come here (or almost anywhere else in the country) to go visit your "neglectful parents," and "picky eaters." You can ask to see the bank account balance, I'll be the one giving 'em a bag of groceries.

Sometimes I think the five-or-so year break I took from this place just want long enough..

@Brett327 was right, this thread is a shit show.

I wonder if the E.U. will continue to be able to afford those fancy meals now that they apparently have to pay for their own defense? It is worth considering such things and following how things flesh out.
AI says...

The average price of a school lunch in France is similar to the price of a school lunch in the United States. However, the cost of school lunch in France varies by region and household income.

The money we give school districts to provide universal subsidized lunch would be much more efficiently spent by expanding SNAP and WIC so the children can bring their food from home, and it would more accurately reach the children who actually need it. And we would avoid the issues that come with serving an 17 year old boy and 13 year old girl the same meal portions.

Do you know what was cut via overwhelming bipartisan support during the last debt limit 'crisis?' That's right - SNAP benefits.

Stop misconstruing my take as someone who thinks that we shouldn't help children in need. School districts around the nation are overwhelmingly using this as a cash grab excuse. And yes, I think the '1 in 5 children are going hungry in America' statistic is bullshit.

@Faded Float Coat way, way too much hyperbole here. No one is mugging you in the grocery store parking lot, ripping bags of groceries out of you hand, yelling: “these kids are undeserving!!!!!”

This board, like this country, is too polarized, and too opinionated about a host of issues. I realize there are smarter people (much smarter than me in some cases), but not all.

We all have different life experiences, education, and careers.

Some of you, have an incessant need to shove your moral superiority down the throats of those you feel are inferior to your personal opinion. Stop it.

The majority of us are here to learn, laugh, and pass along things from our own journey.

Kids need to eat, and be educated, and grow up in a safe, and nurturing environment. I think most, if not all get that.

Maybe we can share information, ideas, resources, instead of having this never ending dick measuring (sorry, “dick or boob” measuring) contest.

Some super smart dudes and dudettes on this board. Let’s work together, not against one another . . .
