Europe under extreme duress

When the fuck did I say I believed it at face value? Show some critical thinking yourself before you come after the rest of us. Unless your point is just to argue against the Ukrainians. Your criticism is pretty one-sided in here.
I think most of us on here are pretty pro -Ukraine, but when somebody says 500k Ukrainians have been forcibly relocated to Russia, it just seems like too much. Then pointing to a (bad) Reuters article when asked for a source makes it worse. Russia has done enough shitty stuff that we don’t need to start quoting poorly-sourced articles to fit our narrative.

I only posted that to point out that Random didn’t pull that from his own ass but point taken.

You chimed in for Random and posted the source, which I thought implied you agreed. My apologies if that assumption was wrong.

I'm pro-Ukraine, but anti-misinformation and damning the entire Russian population for the acts of the country's leaders and conscripts. If my criticism seems one sided it's because there's nobody going over the top in the other direction to disagree with. If someone came on here quoting dubious Russian media claims then I'd side against that as well.

Sure. I’m not trying to troll. I just think it sort of hurts the good guys to put stuff out that doesn’t pass the smell test (to me, at least).

I’m all for just about anything that shows what an asshole Putin is. Post away…

I imagine most of us are in agreement that our media outlets should not be blindly parroting Ukrainian claims without verification. There is certainly enough bad stuff that is real to talk about with respect to the russians.....we don't need to get bogged down in propaganda too

Didn't your parent ever tell you that two wrongs don't make a right? And I'd hardly call accusing a country of kidnapping and enslaving half a million people a "minor moment of exaggeration".

A single claim compared to the avalanche of bullshit out of Russia, it sure as hell is minor.

Russia sowing disinformation doesn't give us a license to do the same. I don't know about you, but I'm a little tired of the media either having no standards (as in this case) or intentionally pushing outright lies regularly. And I'm not talking about Russian media.

'We' aren't doing 'the same'. Russian propaganda is a state-run effort that sows disinformation at home and throughout the world, and has for well over a century. 'We' don't have state-run domestic media and as such quality among the choices can vary widely, but if you actually bother to look you can find plenty of credible and reliable sources to get your information on this war and other news.

Having people then regurgitate that nonsense on here makes it even worse, as we should be able to filter out that crap with common sense, as the editors at Reuters should have if they weren't happy to have a sensationalized story to run.

And we have, but as this is an internet forum it ain't like we have an army of fact checkers to make sure every post meets certain standards. We are only as good as the posters, and frankly this forum is far better than most.

Thought this was a rather unsettling analysis- guess we will know more on May 9th.

You also thought the Governor of WA is going to ban the internal combustion engine by 2030, which any reasonable person would know to be a ridiculous proposition. Your version of "analysis" comes down to how quickly you can click on a clickbait story, then breathlessly regurgitate it for us on AW. Give it a rest.

Yikes, had made my last post then disappeared for a week due to work. Apparently dropped a nuke. Okay, those being critical, I should have been more careful there. I presumed the Reuter's article was correct, however upon some further reading, Zelensky himself is going with the claim, so either he is lying or knows more than the West does: LINK

Also according to the Russians, 500,000 Ukrainians have fled to Russia, not been kidnapped: LINK

On the stories of Russians raping women and killing their husbands: LINK and LINK
