His hot take on the Sky Dong over WA, the the North Korean one, is on page 10 of our 42 page thread on the matter. HeyJoe, a former RIO himself and longtime member here who knew Carroll when they were both JO's, posted his thoughts on Carroll on pages 15 and 16 of the thread. I think that will tell you all you need to know.
Any way for me to access that thread or is it in a private area now? (I have no access to it)

Or at least conceived there
So I learned recently that the Soviets were basically shopping around post-WWII for the Communist strongman they were going to install in North Korea, and apparently Kim Il-Sung got the job because he had an in with Lavrentiy Beria, who hand-picked him.

Apparently the KGB had to ghostwrite some of his early major speeches because he was educated in Chinese and barely spoke any Korean.

Wait, are the North Koreans ripping off Crater Lake, the jewel of Central Oregon, for their “news” production background. WTF?

That's actually Heaven Lake on Paektu Mountain, which has a mythic status to Koreans a little bit like Olympus to the Ancient Greeks. Kim Jong Il was born there, at least according to the the Dear Leader's official bio.

I bet you Heaven Lake doesn't have a couple hundred year old stump floating around on it though.

Lol how can it be 4000 years old if it's the year 2022, get a brain moran

A squadronmate once misspelled a guy's name on his farewell plaque as "BRAIN", and they made it that way. We got all the way to Key West (where the bail was going to be held) before he figured it out.

Heh

Had a guy in my unit named Brian who had a big bald head and was a serious engineering nerd. I'm a dyslexic typer, and would constantly spell his name as Brain, which auto-correct did not catch. He finally sent a reply to all email back to me stating that his name was BRIAN...His callsign from then on was "The Brain". Which he learned to love.
