Final Select Purgatory

Out where I live (Oklahoma) the tracks are open to the public as long as they are not in use by the school at any particular time.

In my community the public schools are funded by taxpayer dollars so they allow the public to use the athletic facilities at anytime except when they’re is a legitimate practice or sporting event going on. I run on my old high schools track everyday and do sprints on the football field. I also live in Michigan and Michigan manners is a real thing so no ones gonna yell at yuh here yuh know.

California isn't so public or forgiving. I don't think I'd get away with that nearly as easily, and the only school close enough for me to run at is an elementary school, and I don't think they'd take kindly to a bearded 20+ year old waking up and asking to use their facilities. :p
 
I'm in Alabama. I'll get shot if I use a school track without permission.

Anyway, I'm treadmilling for the summer. I can't go to OCS (pending PROREC) until December. I can get some asphalt work done in the fall.

Not sure where exactly in Southern California you are at, but at least online it looks like Drake Track Stadium @ UCLA is open to the public in the morning and evenings (closed to public during athletic practice).

Near Culver City and I don't own a car, that's about half an hour away from me. I didn't consider it "local", so I forgot to factor it in.
 
I had to map a flat route throughout my neighborhood that ended up being just shy of .5 of a mile, so I do a lot of back and forth boring runs. But I'm at high altitude and the rest of my neighborhood is super steep mountain grades so unless I'm doing sprints, I don't go that way haha. Oh and, it turns out it isn't so flat, it just seems like it when you're driving; it sucks so hardcore when you're running because it is still a 60ft elevation gain *crying emoji*. My run time is still hot garbage though, I don't know what I run at sea level yet. But I've been told if you are close enough to passing scores, the command exercises discretion in keeping you by rolling you. I am confident they will see how much I want it and how hard I work to get better.

As the whole forum probably know by now with all my bellyaching about it, I'm well within the same boat as you. However, I've been told time and again not to rely on being rolled. Go for your all to get that "exceptional" evaluation, and if you happen to be rolled, do everything you can to improve to an impressive level.

Of course, I'm not counting on anything, just hoping haha. Pushing hard before I go, as I have been the entire time. I'm definitely not one of those selectees that shows up having been a couch potato beforehand.

I've seen some people say that their time was affected by the conditions-tired, hungry, weather, etc., but I feel like if you've trained hard and want it bad enough, and it sounds like you do, adrenaline will take over and you'll surprise yourself. That's been my experience with Navy physical tests at least.
