There are people I know who were selected and are almost finished (3 semesters left) and then there are people who have absolutely zero credits to their name.

I have almost 27 credit hours total but with the degree (Aero Eng) I am going to complete only 15 count. Some count as prerequisite courses but not towards the needed credits to complete degree. You say you have 12 but I suggest talking to the school you plan on attending and verifying they will transfer and count towards the degree you plan on pursuing. If they all transfer then we are in the same situation. I am taking classes up to the date I transfer to NSI/BOOST (if selected). Every little bit will help.

I also recommend taking as many CLEP's as you can. I took 6 or 7, but only passed 2. Hey, anything helps though. I had all of nuke school, 2 other classes that I took since in, and 2 CLEP's. I still need the full 3 years to complete an Electrical Engineering degree, with an average of 15 sem hours (fall/spring) and 9 sem hours (summer).

Just curious how many credits you received for your nuke school? I am not a nuke but am planning on completing an engineering degree. As you obviously know engineering degrees require lots of advanced classes. It makes the 3 year deadline very challenging. With only 2 classes and 2 CLEP's and still being able to finish your degree in 3 years I am guessing nuke school must have counted as some science or math courses. I am trying to type up my degree plan and realizing an engineering degree in 3 years with only a handful of credits coming into it with will be VERY challenging. Anybody else previously (or even this year) experience similar circumstances?

Well, I had 21 semester hours actually count and transfer towards my major. Nuke school is great and all, but they will rarely transfer a lot towards a degree. The most popular places that they will transfer too are Thomas Edison State College, Old Dominion University, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

My SMART shows 128 semester hours, and that doesn't count the college I had prior (15 sem hrs) or the 2 CLEP's I've passed.

Just curious how they changed it without your knowledge, since you are supposed to sign your statement.

Honesty, I'm not sure...I wrote it and signed it several months before my package was sent. I got a copy of my package after it was sent and the letter was different, my signature was on there, but it wasn't the same letter. I gave electronic copies of everything, but the copy I signed was different than the one that he gave me later with my name on it. Of course, it's water under the bridge now so it really doesn't matter.

STA-21 Friendly Colleges

I am beginning to get everything rolling for acceptance into a college if selected for STA-21 this yr(fingers crossed). Does anyone have any advice on which schools are liberal with accepting credit from the Navy? Preferably in the southeast, my accent isn't too hip up north....

ODU has several degree plans that accept a lot of military credits. Embry Riddle will accept a lot for certain degrees as well. I've heard that The Citadel accepts a lot but I never really researched it. I would look at what kind of degree you want to get, then see which school offers it. I would recommend ODU if you are going for a more traditional degree like engineering, etc. If you're looking to get a flying degree or something aviation specific there are a few schools that offer them. If money is an issue for you keep in mind that Embry Riddle is very expensive so expect to take out some loans if you choose to go there. If you're looking for a flying degree, I know that Hampton University has a program as well. Tuition is a bit high, but I think it's less than ERAU.

PFA medical waiver

Does anyone have expirence with a medicall waiver for one of the three required PRT's? I missed two PRT's ago and submitted the one prior to that so I could have three completed ones in my package. I currently have this comment in my package status window.
MISSING SPRING 08, FALL 07, SPRING 07 PFAs. COMMAND IS REQUIRED TO HOLD SPECIAL PRT FOR STA-21 APPLICANTS TO MEET PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

I am hoping that I dont have to rush a special PRT to meet the requirement.

I don't have an answer for you other than to call down and talk to them. Some others on here might have more advice but you can't go wrong asking the STA-21 personnel (probably Ed) who have your package now and deal with this kind of stuff every year. This way you will know without a doubt what needs to be done. It also might make these next few months a little less stressful if you know your package is complete and will be in the running for selection.

I missed 2 PRT's in a row and had to get a letter from my OIC stating why I missed them. One was due to transfering to a new command at PRT time and not being "acclimated" (the command would not give us a PRT). That fall we completed PRT's but Hurricane Ivan wiped out everything we had before it was entered into PRIMS. I transfered again right after that (I was going to a C school) and my new OIC typed up a letter for me explaining the situation.

That's all I had to do. They didn't tell me I had to run another PRT. Of course, that was in '04-'05 so things may be different now.
